Following a petition filed by the Israel Movement for Reform and Progressive Judaism in 2010, the High Court previously issued a conditional order to advance the issue of standardized testing in the haredi education system. The order required a progress report from the Ministry of Education within 90 days. According to the newest court order, the Ministry of Education has not complied with the previous order.

I believe that Charaidim should be given a secular education. One cannot understand the Talmud properly without one. Only the greatest sages did not need a secular education because they were so skilled in learning Torah they gleaned that information from the Torah. However, most people are not capable of doing this and a secular education would be very helpful in understanding the Torah. Rav Moshe Feinstein and other sages constantly consulted doctors and other professionals before they ruled on halachic issues. The idea is to make sure that the secular education does not included things that are anti-Torah. The high court is a very dangerous element in Israel today. There is no accountability or oversight. There is no constitutuion. They have no sense of their Jewish roots or of Jewish destiny. They are the lowest element of society making and imposing very important rulings that hurt the security of Israel and cost Jewish lives. Now they want to destroy the Torah system of learning. I agree that secular knowledge is needed in Charaidi schools but not under their terms but under Torah terms.
