The suspect, who cannot be named, appeared before the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court, where he accused police of painting a “demonic
picture” of him and presenting him as a “dangerous person.”

The comments came after the police representative to court, Ronen Mizrahi, said police had a recording of a phone conversation involving the website’s director-general, in which he said, “If I hear the name of the person claiming he was extorted one more time I will send people to murder his children.”

According to the suspicions, the director-general of the Hadrei Haradim news site and three employees extorted members of the Haredi community, threatening to publish content that would damage their reputations if large sums were not paid to them. Police suspect the suspects extorted millions of shekels in this manner.

Under the terms of the house arrest, the suspect is forbidden from having any links to his website or its employees during his house arrest.

Dear me, it looks like the police misapprehended what I intend all the time; bidding for the right to sweep the beis midrash and similarly merit to clean the floors at the police station, so my site has been censored for the meantime, but this shall nary derail my campaign for Mayor of the Negev Arad City – weep for http://www.englishquickly.com until resurrected bezras Hashem.

    I’m confused?
No one is rioting? No one is claiming this is anti-charadi?
What are we too bloated on matzo to act?

Unfortunately, the inaction of the masses points to some sort of cabal that can activate or inactivate the rioters at whim, and here, they are content not to mobilize their rioters, most likely as they too were the victims of the website’s malicious activities.
So sad on so many levels.

I wonder why they don’t post the name anymore. On the first day the news broke they posted a couple of names, one of which i know personally. he was the director and cofounder and there was even a picture of him a while ago with his face kinda blurred out. I guess maybe because of LH reasons but VIN keeps writing that he’s still anonymous when I think its clear who the alleged culprits are. There was no secret about who ran the website before they got arrested

To all of you chareidi bashers, check the picture carefully. Even with the blurring it is clear that the suspect is NOT chareidi.

Isn’t it kind of suspicious that he was arrested just before Pesach, held in detention right through yomtov, and then released straight afterwards? Anywhere else in the world, people would be screeming blue murder that the fact that he was detained exactly at that period appears to point to their trying to force him to admit to something – in other words, using his Jewishness against him (religious or not, or even how much, the vast majority of Jews celebrate the seder and particularly in Israel, Pesach is a real ‘holiday’ and family time, outings with the kids etc, after the end of winter). Only in Israel can they get away with this sort of behaviour without protest.
