Speaking to Israel Radio about half an hour after her ordeal, Shoshi Porat, 50, said she was attacked on the corner of Levinsky and Yesod Hamaale streets near the central bus station in south Tel Aviv. She said she was hit from behind, fell to the ground, and saw two African men fleeing the scene.

“I was on the phone and I felt a huge pain on my back and head. I fell onto the ground. There are so many Sudanese here lately. I’ve told my husband that I’m worried about being attacked,” she told Israel Radio.

Police say there has been an increase in the number of crimes committed by African migrants throughout Tel Aviv. Last week, buildings used by African migrants were firebombed by veteran residents of south Tel Aviv, a worrying sign of increasing tension between the two population groups.

Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch held a discussion on Wednesday about criminal activities among African refugees and work migrants. The discussion was also attended by Police Commissioner Insp.-Gen. Yohanan Danino and Maj.-Gen. Yoav Segalovich, head of investigations and police intelligence. During the discussion, it was revealed that 40 percent of crime in Tel Aviv comes from foreign migrants. It was also revealed that every month between 500 and 1,200 infiltrators enter Israel illegally.

Interior Minister Eli Yishai, who has been outspoken against the flood of African economic migrants, asylum seekers and refugees into the country through the border with Egypt, said on Thursday that he would work to “deport all of the African infiltrators to the very last one.”

“All the bleeding hearts attacked me when I said that these African asylum seekers would bring with them trouble, but I was right,” Yishai told Army Radio. “People said that I was against foreigners, but this is not true. There is going to be huge chaos here and we’re going to lose our Jewish character. We have to put a stop to this infiltration, set up the border fence in the south, and deport all of the migrants to the very last one. If we don’t we’ll lose the Zionist enterprise.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has called the swelling number of illegal migrants a “national scourge.”

Migrant advocates contend that the Africans are genuine refugees and should be granted asylum. They accuse the government of ignoring the retribution most of the migrants face should they return home.

The influx has touched off a national debate, with some Israelis calling the migrants an economic and social burden and fearing their mounting numbers will dilute Israel’s Jewish character, while others say that the Jewish people, because of their history of persecution, should especially accommodating of others fleeing persecution or conflict.

“who else will do all the dirty construction jobs and clean toilets?”

How about Jewish men, living in Israel, who refuse to serve in the armed forces?

It would be a adequate ‘sherut leumi’ and rid the country of unwanted aliens.

As the head of a Religious party he should be aware that Hashem is “rachamav al kol ma’asav” and yes, this includes Africans. We should emulate Hashem and treat these people with dignity and respect. If they are in the country illegaly they should be deported but only in a Humane way.

For one time I agree with Eli Yishai. Israel will pay a price for this mad Hefker policy of allowing in these African refugees. Let them go to the European white Christian countries such as Hungary, Romania, etc. and see what reception they get.

The logic goes like this: shas has seats we need in Knesset. What ministry can we toss their way that’s not needed and can be run by an untrained yeshiva boy? Can’t be defense, treasury or foreign. Let’s make it the Interior ministry, after all, besides from a massive forest fire or mass illegal immigration, what could go wrong?

During the 1970’s, there was a group of hundreds of radical American blacks, who emigrated to Israel. They claimed that they were Jews, from one of the lost tribes. However, their claim was refuted by the Chief Rabbi of Israel. The Israeli authorities were afraid to deport them, as they didn’t want to be accused of racism. The group settled in the Negev, and over the years, there have been problems with them. Today, a similar situation is occurring with the African migrants. It is very difficult to deport individuals, although not impossible. It would not look good on tv, if a tape was shown of Israeli cops and soldiers, evicting or deporting the Africans. These illegals should be prevented from entering the country in the first place.
