Burch Equipment announced the voluntary recall Saturday.
The farm says the whole Athena cantaloupes were shipped July 15. They have a red label with Burch Farms.
No illnesses have been associated with this recall, according to Burch Farms.
Anyone with one of the cantaloupes should destroy the melon.
In a press release, Hannaford advised customers that its stores had carried Burch Farms Athena cantaloupes. The product has been removed. Athena cantaloupes, a variety grown in the Southeastern United States, are a whole cantaloupe produce item. If stickered, the label on the item will reference Burch Farms and read: “Cantaloupe PLU 4319.”
The supermarket chain said return the cantaloupes to Hannaford stores or dispose of them and return the sticker for a full refund. No other products are affected by this recall.
