Police suspected that he awarded kashrut certificates to various factories in exchange for donations, and that he strong-armed kashrut supervisors to give up incriminating information against the rabbi’s opponents.

What’s wrong with that? Its done all the time – no ‘rules’ or halachot were broken

Why do you have to label him as Sephardi? What does it have to do with the allegations?

The headline of the article shows there is still baseless hate (sinat chinam).
Notice it says “sephardi”, why don’t they say “ashkenazi” when something wrong is done by and ashkenaz.

    Pls spare me the comments.

Unfortunate but true ashkenazim still look down at sephardim.
Proof look at the news papers espacially the jewish press they almost never put any pictures or print any positive articles of sephardic rabbis.

Its as if sephardim don’t count.

What a shame when will this stop.
    We are all one.

    To all my Sephardic brothers
We don’t hate you guys,we love you guys, we don’t look down at you guys,we look up to you guys,

If you ask any Ashkenazi guy if he will take a bullet for his Sephardic brother, 90% will say that they will take, and I’m sure you Sephardic brothers will also take for us.

This article didn’t say anything aginst the Sephardic community,
All it says is that – The Chief Sephardi Rabbi Haifa Shlomo Shlush was accused of something, which they didn’t proof yet.

It’s like saying the breslov rebbi of Willamsburg was cought stealing, does it mean that the author hates breslov, or Hates Willamsburg,

No he tales a story and he says with whom it was

Unfortunately this is a recurring issue:
In 2007 he was investigated for conversion fraud (bribery in exchange for approving conversions)
In the same year one of his kashrus inspectors filed a complaint of blackmail (which the police didn’t end up prosecuting).

Rav Landa is the only major figure in the entire kashrus world who is beyond reproach. Why? Because he charges only his costs for his hashgocho.

I never heard of Ashkeneizim hating Sephardim Chas vsholom.
They are NOT look down at.

They are just saying who the Rav is and not specifically mentioning Sphardic to say, hey he’s bad. No way.

only people who continue to be happy to accept galut-geographic descriptions could possibly be involved in Kashrut scandals.
Us “ISRAELIS” (i.e. NOT “ashkenazi” or “sefardi”) do not have Religious corruption because we would not let this happen in our modern, open, non-extremist societies

Reply to number 7 and 11:

sorry to say but this is fact and this is why it hurts me so much.
there is this discrimination and unfortunate no one in the ashkenaze world admits it.

i am in the “black hat yeshivish” world and when my Rabbis speak and give classes they always quote Ashkenaz Rabbis as well they should because they were and are GREAT, on the other hand when i have listend to Askenaz Rabbis they never quote Sephardic Rabbis and i am not talking about the Rishonim (Rambam or Ramban etc..).

read the news papers such as hamodia and jewish press look at the pictures they display and tell me how many Sephardic Rabbis you see.
read the articles how many times do you see articles on Sephardic rabbis.

once in a while you will see a picture of Hacham Ovadia but thats it, as if he is the only Sephardic Rabbi.

I think you should open your eyes and see and at the same time PLEASE i beg you tell your community to stop this nonsense.

#7 please dont get me wrong i LOVE my Ashkenaz brothers and look up to them and i as well as all Sephardic will take a bullet for our Ashkenaz brothers.
