New York – Shul Management Goes High Tech With E-Gabbai

    15

New York – Managing the myriad details that are part of running a Shul has become much less cumbersome with the introduction of E-Gabbai, a software package designed to automate the many tasks associated with Shul management, including website design, schedule and calendar creation, automated text messaging and emails, as well as keeping track of all financial data.

E-Gabbai had its roots in a website designed for a Connecticut yeshiva, when informational technology consultant Mendy Israel created a program that would not only integrate all management tasks, but could be easily operated by someone in the yeshiva.

“Looking at this site, I realized that if we added in an accounting package, this was something that many Shuls could use,” Israel told VIN News. “It was a centralized solution, the equivalent of Quickbooks on steroids, but designed specifically for Shuls.”

It took three years of development until E-Gabbai was ready to go live and Israel worked both with a software team in Israel as well as a Shul gabbai to ensure that the program would address the needs of its intended audience.

“It was important for us to work with heimishe people who understood what it was all about,” explained Israel.

E-Gabbai is available in four different packages, named Shachris, Mincha, Maariv and Musaf, each one offering a different level of functionality and targeting a different audience.

According to Israel, the product has been very well received since its introduction before Pesach and currently over twenty Shuls across the United States are using E-Gabbai.

“We hope to become the new standard in Shul management by bringing Shuls into the age of technology,” said Israel.

My shul has a better program that came out years ago called E-Lazy.

Watch davening on a screen, Learn daf yomi on a computer, use email, ipads,i phones, crackberries for shachrsi mincha maariv, Artscroll i -pad. What’s promising is you don’t have to use your brains anymore. By not using your brain jewish scientisist say one lives longer because you save that brain power for later years.

E-lazy can be found wherever you daven, shop, learn and can even be found in stores. hurry up and buy your today while supplies last or just call 1800 no marbles.

I would need to wait awhile before purchasing – the Asifa-nicks will probably ban this since it’s an online solution.

We had a cash flow problem in our shul untill I found this software. I donated the first 6 months. Now with automated account balance email notifications, and online credit card payments this software is a real money maker for our shul. Thanks Israel.

We’re one of the very satisfied E-Gabbai users. We set up our Shul database with E-Gabbai, about a year ago, and found the on-line software to deliver all it has promised. Our Gabboim have increased their efficiency in the collection of pledges, as well as the communicating with the membership and Mispalelim (friends and neighbors) the Zmanei HaTefilah and Shiurim, regularly.
E-Gabbai even tracks the Yarzeiten of the Mispalelim, organizing the weekly Aliyah candidate report for the Gabboim. Shul announcements and other notifications are posted on the Shul blog regularly.
Kol HaKavod, to Mendy Israel for this amazing tool.

This is Good News!! To hear that the program is tied to the checkbook will provide a more effecient organisation. Money for something and the aliyahs are not for free. Better seating for the baal givers is best in these tough times.

This software has been endorsed by a number of chashuve rabbonim. It can be used with and without the internet, although having the ability to internet the applications with online data sources makes it much more powerful. Certainly, there is nothing about eGabbai that would raise a shailyah, even for the most machmir asifaniks worried about the internet .

Apparently so much in our religion is based on money. Look how many of the comments prior to mine refer to the financial aspects of the program.

How about a computer program that will encourage Ahavas Chinam. maybe then we’d have something special.
