Washington – Report: Obama Denies Netanyahu’s Request For A Meeting

FILE - A photograph released on 22 May 2011 and provided by the Israeli Government Press Offices shows U.S. President Barack Obama as he bids Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (R) farewell while escorting the Israeli leader to his limousine outside the White House following their meeting on May 20, 2011. EPA/AVI OHAYONWashington – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s request to meet with President Obama during a UN conference scheduled for later this month has been denied by the White House. Haaretz reports (http://bit.ly/QbiZnd) that Netanyahu’s office advised the White House that although the prime minister would only be in the United States for a little over two days, he was willing to travel to Washington, DC in order to meet with the president. The White House rejected the request citing Mr. Obama’s schedule.

The denial came after Netanyahu publicly attacked the United States earlier today for its position on Iran. “The world tells Israel ‘wait, there’s still time.’ And I say, ‘Wait for what? Wait until when?’ Those in the international community who refuse to put red lines before Iran don’t have a moral right to place a red light before Israel,” Netanyahu said.

“Now if Iran knows that there is no red line. If Iran knows that there is no deadline, what will it do? Exactly what it’s doing. It’s continuing, without any interference, towards obtaining nuclear weapons capability and from there, nuclear bombs,” he added.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak tried to ease the strain between the U.S. and Israel, saying, “We must not forget that the U.S. is Israel’s most important source of support in terms of security.”

A Department of State spokesperson said the Obama administration does not see public discussion of the Iranian nuclear program as “useful,” even as U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said today that the United States has little more than a year to act if Iran is, in fact, making a nuclear weapon.

Hashem is Bnei Yisrael’s only source of security. How many times does He have to remind us? Not to rely on miracles by any means, but to increase our love for our fellow Jews and He will do the rest.

Please tell me again how good a friend of Israel Obama is. Netanyahu, the head of a foreign government that is your closest ally in the Middle East, if not closest period, requests a meeting with Obama to discuss one of the most important foreign policy matters these days and Obama doesn’t have the time to meet with him?? Baloney!! It’s another public display of Obama’s contempt for Bibi and for Israel. Unfortunately, the writing on the wall is becoming clearer for Israel that the Obama administration is no friend and cannot be relied upon. The only thing that might cause Obama to do anything for Israel would be if his re-election depended on it (for him it’s priority #1 and there is no priority #2 ).

Being seen with the Jew is an unnecessary emberassment for Hussein so close to election before the antisemitic goyim who made themselves very well heard during the voice vote at the democrete convention. And the secularconservativereform and some number of modern allegedly orthodox lemmings vote for him anyway.

Mr. Natanyahu is playing a dangerous game of brinkmanship ratching up a backlash against Obama which can produce a backlash against American Jews. He ;plays out the card of his friend Romeny both former or current investors . He gives a hoot of the Jews living chutz l’eretz

Israel again stands alone and isolated, the world, including the USA doesn’t give a hoot, after all ahmadHOMONjad has specifically and expilcitly threatened Israel and NOT any other countries.

Israel shouldn’t take on Iran singlehandedly, this is the world’s problem as much as it is Israel’s, certainly Iran’s immediate neighboring oil producing countries have as much to fear from a nuclear Iran. Let someone else do the dirty work.

Having said that, Israel needs to begin sending Iran strong signals that any attempt by Iran to go nuclear against the State of Israel will be preempted by Israel.

Bibi, put the lights on in Dimona.

The problem is that there is bad blood between Obama and Netanyahu, on a personal level. Clearly, both of them can’t stand each other. It was noticeable during their last few meetings, as one could tell from their body language, that there was unpleasant chemistry between the two of them. However, Obama’s relationship with Netanyahu, and vice-versa, should not mean that there is bad feelings between Obama and EY. For example, although President Nixon had very few close Jewish advisors and acquaintences, he got along fine with Golda Meir, and provided EY with Phantoms and other military equipment. Hence, if there was a change in leadership in EY (i.e. Tspi Livni), things might change for the better.

Obama is back to his old game of showing disrespect to Netanyahu and his policy of announcing that there is no “red line” on Iran and that negotiations will continue shows that he is just as naive now as he was when he took office. He has not learned a thing.

Ok all of you handout-loving self-respect-loathing nanny-state-needing liberals, repeat after me “Obama is a friend of Israel”. Now keep repeating it until you actually manage to convince yourself of it.

I admire and agree with most all of your posts beside for the political ones since I don’t share your thoughts on Obama. Why SherryTheNoahide; are you not defending Obama once again for not having the time to meet with the Israeli PM? Israel aside; may this not be as important as campaigning. He has an obligation to his country and although Iran is more an Israeli issue over a USA issue however my belief is that regardless of his schedule as important as it may be he should have made himself available. Had this been another fundraising event in New York I believe he would have shifted his busy schedule. I believe it is a slap in the face for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a slap in the face for American Jewry as well as for any concerned American citizen. Is it possible that you also realize he made a mistake or are all his decisions sanctioned by you?

I sit here in amazement, my jaw dropping at the games people play, even when it comes to Israel’s very existence. Some people will come to Obama’s defense, even at the cost of their own brethren.

Yes, Obama manages to stifle his arrogance every so often, but obviously not often enough, and again he let slip. He is the Pharoah of our times: arrogant, self-worshiping and keen on having Jewish advisers, only to have them turn against their own people.

I believe that there is a God, though the Democrats might disagree. I believe Israel is poised to see great miracles. Obama could have been part of the solution; instead he is becoming part of the problem. His arrogance will not get in the way of Jewish destiny. There is a God – and for all of the politicking and gaming and scheming going on, it is in HIS hands and with HIS will. So, not withstanding all of Obama’s finesse and gifts of persuasion, on the heels of a much acclaimed convention, Chicago erupts in protest. So, even as he declares America safer than ever, Cairo storms its US embassy and US consulate comes under attack in Libya.

Yes, there is a God, and his name is not Obama.

Jimmy Carter only gave us one Islamic Republic. Obama is at three. If the Jewish libs get their wish and he is reelected, how many more will we see?

So what? Obama is a busy man; why should he clear his schedule for someone who is constantly bad-mouthing him? The late great Yitzhak Shamir detested Bibi and said he was a dangerous untrustworthy person. I guess Obama is as good a judge of character as Shamir was.

I guess our esteemed friend SherryTheNoahide must be out of the country since she hasn’t posted on this topic. I’m hoping she can somehow realize how wrong she may be on the Obama topic. If that were to happen she would be a great asset to us on political views since she no doubt is extremely intelligent and writes beautiful posts. Sherry; we need you!

My question is if this would not be a U.S. election year and the sitting president would a Republican instead a candidate with whom Mr. Natanyahu had past joint investments if the imminent danger would be as acute

Was Netanyahu the guy who publicly bragged he had once called George Bush (the Younger) away from a speech as a means of showing him who was the boss? I can see why someone else might not want to take his every call.

Do you remember the maaseh when Obama went to the Kotel before he was elected and the note he had left was retrieved and publicized? If memory serves, he wrote something like a request that his daughters be protected from harm. OK, fatherly feelings. But wouldn’t it have been nice, something like asking the One Above to bring peace to the Holy Land and the world in general, etc? No statesmanly vision here. Er iz far zich alein.

Kol Hakovod to Netanyahu for showing Obama who is boss.

Obama should now go to the next step and Give Obama another slap in the face when he will meet with Romney instead’ sending a subliminal message to US voters that we should vote the Obama Anti Semite, out of office.

Rightfully so considering the PM would try to back him into the corner and pound him into saying yes or no as though talking to a school buddy; and brother President not willing to assert power over politcal folly.
Furthermore, allow me to say that Romeney has strong affiliation to the Mormon church that grafted the missionary facility unto the nerve center of Jerusalem against the protestations of the Lev Simcha and to withhold one’s vote for him most prudent.
If I may add wishing you all a year free of political macinations that tend to frighten and cleaving pure faith true meaning of life, Hashem echad!

Bibi is a liar because he sells himself as right wing yet votes in favor of every real estate gift to Israel’s enemies. He voted for Kush Katif’s expulsion and most recently (2 weeks ago) to expel the Jews from Migron. Bibi is a greater friend to Arafat than Peres could have ever dreamed of being. THAT’S why Shamir hated Bibi. If you think Shamir would have a love affair with Obama, you need your head examined. Shamir was the most right wing Prime Minister that Israel ever had.
