On Tuesday, grieving Gazans were burying militants and civilians killed in ongoing Israeli airstrikes, and barrages of rockets from Gaza sent terrified Israelis scurrying to take cover. Efforts to end a week-old convulsion of Israeli-Palestinian violence drew in the world's top diplomats Tuesday, with U.S. President Barack Obama dispatching his secretary of state to the region on an emergency mission and the U.N. chief appealing from Cairo for an immediate cease-fire. (AP Photo/Lefteris Pitarakis)Gaza City – Israel and militants from the Gaza Strip have agreed to an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire that will come into force at midnight local (2200 GMT), Hamas official Ayman Taha said, speaking to Reuters from Cairo.

“An agreement for calm has been reached. It will be declared at 9.00 p.m. and go into effect at midnight,” Taha said.

Meanwhile, Israel’s Official spokesperson Mark Regev interviewed by Wolf Blitzer on CNN said that no such agreement has been finalized yet.

No doubt Hamas will agree. They need time to replenish their rocket supply

This whole issue is irrelevant, and should be discounted much more than it is. Hamas an an Arab group and as a terrorist group has never been honest. The commitments they will make that the world will accept are worth nothing. So says their track record. The only option here is to decimate this group of savage, uncivilized animals. Let them live within any other Muslim country. Not a single grain of Israeli sand belongs to them. Capitulating to terror was responsible for the current situation, and no one should have the evil mind to pressure Israel to concede anything. Hamas, if allowed to live, should be only permitted a few square feet in a cage somehwere, and they should never be accorded the dignity of humans, let alone the status of a government with access to weapons.

Truce with Hamas is an oxymoron.

The premise that has dominated virtually all negotiations with Muslim terror is that the Muslims are entitled to engage in terror because they “want” something. And that terror is never called aggression. That’s why the liberal media have refused to refer to Hamas as terrorists but only as “activists” or “militants”. With that foundation, all else fails. Now, if United States or other western countries will mix into this business, they must write a more truthful premise. Hamas and all othert terror organizations are the aggressors, and that they are the ones who must stop their hostilities, unconditionally, and to give up all arms and ammunition. They lack the civility and morality to have them. Now, shall we begin with the first proposals for a cease fire?
