Israel – Rabbi: Attempt to Draft Haredim Brought War

During a lecture in June this year in Tiberias, Yitzhak said a war would break out between Israel and its enemies because of efforts to draft haredi (ultra- Orthodox) yeshiva students into the army.

He made the comments while the government was trying to agree on legislation to integrate yeshiva students into military service, following the High Court of Justice’s February ruling that the previous arrangement – in which full-time yeshiva students could opt out of serving – was illegal.

“God sits in heaven and plays with them, and laughs, ‘All of a sudden they’re going to be drafted, they’ll draft them, equality [in the military draft], equality,’” Yitzhak said at the time.

“Don’t interfere with the apple of my eye,” the rabbi said, as if quoting God. “Those who study Torah are the apple of God’s eye, don’t interfere with them in case He does not remain silent.”

He warned that “now you’ll see, before they can agree on a new law, a war will break out, as always happens when people oppose those who observe the Torah and its commandments, and then you’ll remember what I said and see if it was true or not.”

He made similar comments again in August during a talk in Dimona.

The rabbi’s official website, Shofar.tv, published a statement on Tuesday drawing attention to his comments.

“Less than three months after the rabbi spoke on this issue in Dimona, and after two weeks of [rocket] barrages on the communities of the South, the Hamas Chief of Staff Ahmed Jabaari was eliminated,” the statement read.

“On the eve of the new month of Kislev, massive rocket fire was directed at Beersheba and southern Israel, and shortly after, it was decided to initiate Operation Pillar of Defense.”

Bad publicity is still publicity, i guess with the economy Rabbi Amnon is not getting the money he used to get so he has to be in the headlines.

When these Rabbis make these claims they dont bring people closer to hashem, rather they turn off people to hashem but it does not matter to them as it is more important to stir up new business

The 1% respeect i somewhat had for him is totally gone. Rabbi Steirman told him he can have a smart phone for business, but since he speaks to hashem himself why didnt he ask him directly if he can have it?

    What a joke!

How mature and sensitive of the great rabbi to gloat about his hateful, if obvious, prediction. If the inevitable escalation in violence would have happened 2, 4, or 20 years from now he would have said the same thing. He should stick to playing with his iphone.

Do we really need to give more reasons to the non orthodox or to the non Jews to hate us? Why can’t the Frum ppl just stop saying such wise things! You can think it but don’t say it! It causes so much sina between yidden! What good does it accomplish? Y do we need to make more ppl hate us? I know that this rav is a big tzadick but you have to see how he world will perceive what u say!

Excuse me, a prophecy? Is that prophecy as in נבואה? Perhaps, it’s like the גמרא in ב”ב י”ב ע”ב:

מיום שחרב בית המקדש ניטלה נבואה מן הנביאים וניתנה לשוטים ולתינוקות

Yes, in 1933 the same was said in Poland Hitler rose because of Reform Jews in Germany. Later in Treblinka Yidden with beard and pyes landed in the gas chambers. To you young fellows it is news but to me rehashed malarkey. Maybe the chilonim brought it on and according to the NK it is the tzionym

Actually, if I had to put my finger on it I would say “sinas chinam” brought the war. So Rabbi, with all due respect, it is time to keep quiet!!! If you have a need to preach, get up and tell ALL your followers to daven with as much Kavona as possible for the safety of ALL IDF soldiers and of course ALL of K’lal Yisrael. You will definitely get more followers that way. One thing YOU need to learn. Without the IDF, YOUR boys have no protection to sit and learn!

    To All commenters;
You are all full of hatred to the good guy who made so many hunderd of thousdands of baalei teshuva, as the gemara quotes כשנאת עם הארץ לתלמוד חכם. I would suggest to all of you, to start going to his lectures and listen to his shiurim, and “maybe” you will become a baal teshuva yourself. (I’m saying maybe because it says אל יוכיח ללץ).
Did you ever start thinking that maybe he’s right? This is what it says in the torah, על שלשה דברים העולם עומד, על התורה ועל העבודה ועל גמילות חסדים, it does not say anywhere on a good army, just the opposite. There is a pusuk in Tehilim “אם ה’ לא ישמור עיר שוא שקד שומר”. How can you expect Hashem to watch on the a state when they are forcing the scholars to tear themselves away from torah and go to the army.
And about the problem with the Iphone you have, I don’t know what went on there, but I do know that there is a obligation to be dan l’kaf zchus, especially a talmud chacham. The gemara quotes “אם ראית ת”ח שעשה עבירה ביום אל תהרהר אחריו שמה אשה תשובה, שמה עשה תשובה סלקא דעתך? אלא ודאי עשה תשובה.
So people keep your comments to yourselves and don’t show how bad our inside is.

GottaHaveEmunah – thank you for being the rational voice in the comments. Can’t people just keep quiet – take the mussar? No, I must bring down the Rabbi so that the message should be lost. I despise VIN for publishing these articles and allowing comments on them.

The families that are sitting SHEVA for their loves one NOW because of this war will have comfort by what Yitzchak said.On second thought have Yitzchak pay a SHEVA call to all these families .

maybe it is the avoidance of the draft and the not willing to protect the land that is bringing the missile and all the other stuff like attacking and trying to make woman disappear in public

Is this the same person that was gloating when hurricane sandy hit NY and thousands of Jewish people lost there homes, parnassah, and he had all figured out why it happened. With all due respect rabbi you are very good at what you do is making balei tshuva but since when are you to tell prophecy do you have some direct connection to god, does he tell you all his calculations. How absurd

You might not like what the messenger said but at least think about it. Along with sinas chinom but both the charedi and the secular. Also to think about the news hatred, and what you can do to be a better person no matter what level. Even secular Jews in Eretz Yisrael say Tehillim. Even Neutri Karta try to take their hand and get them to understand Jews don’t fight with Jews in Public.

Truth be told, without enough manpower the IDF suffers, without Torah learning yiddishkeit suffers.

We need both, Torah learning and manpower in the IDF, in order to survive.

A possible solution might be to have half a day of learning with the other half training as a soldier, in the IDF. After all, there’s no perfect solution.

It’s interesting how someone says a bit of criticism and it tees off the hotheads. What’s the matter? Afraid to hear some criticism? Are we so above blemish?I agree that I have plenty of what I have to fix myself- but don’t get so defensive- allow the situation to be constructive even if there’s some words of censure.

After reading the article and the comments it is clear to me that Hashem is punishing his people because of the attempts by some hereidim to avoid the army. Rivka what you have to learn that without his boys in the idf defending the medina there will be no studying of Torah.
I am ready to hear from some of you. If I am at best an apikores I can live with it. If you are at best a hater of all of the Jewish people I hope you will be able to live with it

zugst gut zug veiter, I did not state numbers; I stated percentages which is still valid with your experience. However, please research the numbers and you will see the statement is valid regardless of a personal experience. The point is: if WW2 was because of Reform Jews which started in Germany, it is amazing how a lot of them survived and it’s the frum ones in Poland that bore the brunt of the Holocaust.

Every one should look in the mirror and i am sure we will find a reason why this war started ..We nebech lost and injured so many yiddishe men and women and we dont have to look further then our own mirror…

I don’t claim to know the reason for anything – however some food for thought – maybe it is because of people doing things that they know and preach to be assur. Let’s see if we can think of an example: hmmm, maybe someone gives a psak that smart phones are assur and than uses one himself. maybe HaShem is saying that this apple of My eye has fallen off the tree and is rolling away – I will have to send him a message.h

but I certainly don’t have prophecy and I have no clue why HaShem does what He does so… what I wrote above is worth about as much as what this publicity hound has written!

Frum Jews can’t absolve themselves of the responsibility of serving in the army and protecting Israel’s citizens. Amnon Yitzchak and other “rabbis” of his ilk seem to believe that only somebody else’s kids should risk their lives fighting Arab terrorists.
Black hat Judaism is becoming less and less concerned with Klal Israel. They only care about their yeshivas and small communities.

I suspect Amnon Yitzchak and other so called “gedolim” don’t want their followers being exposed to the real world and walking away from the “yeshiva racket”.

And I think that arresting the women of the wall for the severe crime of wearing a talis is what caused the rockets. Rockets started about a month ago when the first group of women were arrested. Rockets then got worse the next Rosh Chodesh when 6 more women were arrested. 6 people then died from rocket fire.

See, I too, know how to be a good navi. And I don’t even charge for my services.

And if I might add another 2 cents worth, rockets broke through walls of many houses to teach us we did something wrong with a wall.
