Pollard’s wife Esther was informed of his hospitalization, but the severity of his condition was not initially known.

Pollard, who marked the 27th anniversary of his arrest two weeks ago, was last hospitalized in April after suffering from extreme pain. Sources described his situation at the time as life-threatening.

His long list of ailments include: Diabetes, nausea, dizziness, blackouts and ongoing issues with his gall bladder, kidneys, sinuses, eyes and feet.

He also suffers from Meniere’s disease, which causes him to lose consciousness and fall without warning.

President Shimon Peres and Pollard have issued formal clemency requests to US President Barack Obama, but he has never responded.

US presidents usually grant pardons and commute sentences during the American holiday season that began with Thanksgiving on November 22.

UsS usually pardons during the thanksgiving season. Well he forgave the turkey for some unknown crime. I guess Pollard should have been a turkey not a human being. Refua sheleima. We daven each day for his release.

Pollard has had the continuous opportunity to apply for parole and the Bush Administration pointed out presidential pardons would not even be considered by any administration until he Pollard first applied for parole before seeking clemency.

During his last week in office, Bill Clinton pardoned Marc Rich, who was a wanted fugitive from justice. Although Clinton lied, and stated that he was pressured to do so by the Israelis, the fact of the matter is that Rich’s wife, Denise was a large contributor to the Democratic party. Clinton also double crossed Netanyahu, when he initially stated in 2000, that he would commute Pollard’s sentence. He lied, and blamed his change of heart on George Tenet of the CIA, and others. This entire affair from 1985, until the present smells! I can’t understand why during the various Republican debates, not one reporter asked any of the candidates what their position on the Pollard Matter was. Also, Hillary Clinton also seems to have changed her position on this matter, over the years.

To: PMO in FL- While I certainly don’t condone what Pollard did, the fact of the matter is that the Government double crossed him, when it assured his legal team, that it would not seek life imprisonment, if Pollard pleaded guilty. However, it changed its mind, after former Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger, added fuel to the fire, in a “secretive memo”, which contained misleading and false information. In fact, Weinberger’s inciteful memo, caused Judge Aubrey Robinson to throw the book at Pollard. However, before he died, Weinberger was quoted as saying that the Pollard affair was blown out of proportion, and he was not against commutation for time served. Since that time, calls for Pollard’s commutation have come from politicians on both sides of the political spectrum. The Government of EY also is at fault, as it has never returned all of the stolen documents, and has never admitted its culpability. In addition, it has never surrendered Col. Aviem Sella, who was one of the ringleaders. If Sella surrendered, instead of fleeing like a coward, Pollard would have been released a long time ago.

United States prison conditions are quite humane, and just fine for those of Pollard’s ilk.
