Brooklyn, NY – Almost one year to the day after an Israeli court granted an appeal delaying the extradition of former Crown Heights resident Yitzchak Shuchat to the United States, According to Israeli news 1 the Israeli Supreme Court has ruled that Shuchat must return to his former home within the next sixty days to face assault charges.

Shuchat, a former member of the Crown Heights Shmira crime patrol was indicted for second degree assault as a hate crime, following the alleged April 2008 beating of a black man, Andrew Charles who was suspected of attacking a fourteen year old Jewish girl, as previously reported on VIN News. Both Shuchat and Charles, the son of an NYPD officer had both stated publicly that the beating was not racially motivated.
Today’s decision by Judge Salim Joubran, the first Arab to receive a permanent spot on the Israel Supreme Court, overturns the previous appeal granted by Jerusalem District Court Judge Bentzion Greenberger.
In his ruling Judge Joubran stated that there is sufficient evidence against Shuchat, currently a resident of Lod, to justify the requirements for extradition.
“The defendant’s version of the incident and all that transpired will be heard by a court in New York, which will hear the case and make the necessary determinations,” said Joubran.
In a rare move, District Attorney Charles Hynes convened a grand jury to investigate the incident, back in 2008 and according to reports on 1010 WINS, compared the Shmira patrol to a street gang. If convicted, Shuchat could face up to fifteen years in prison.

Charles Hynes has failed miserably on the abuse issue, sadly certain leaders in the Frum community are as guilty as him.
With that said lately he’s trying to carve out a legacy for himself, because he’s fearful of actually having to fight for whats usually an easy reelection.
So he’s been appealing to all communities with high profile prosecutions.
He’s played Satmar VS each other, and he’s done that with Chabad, by over blowing the 749 incident, and now with the Shuchat case he’s trying to bring us back to 1991 in order to look like a super hero.
There’s no question that Shuchat would be found NOT GUILTY the serious danger would be with his CH”V pre trial incarceration.
It is really incredible. how biased and racially motivated the commentators of this board are. The assumption you make is that Every Frum Jew is perfect- actually beyond perfect. They do not commit crimes, they don’t embezzle, they are not murderers, they are not pedophiles they do not cheat and steal. After all who could do such things when they put on Tefillin every more and scrupulously follow their Rebbe’s instructions to the ultimate degree. Since you feel like that it is only natural that any Jew who is being prosecuted is actually a victim of anti-semetism and especially anti-frumness.
