Senate President Stephen Sweeney says Christie’s jobs plan before the late October storm was a disaster and now the reconstruction will provide an economic boost through thousands of construction jobs.

The storm killed people in 10 states but hit New York and New Jersey the hardest, flooding neighborhoods and destroying homes.

Sweeney said at a Monday press conference he guesses Christie “prayed a lot and got lucky because a storm came.” The state’s most powerful elected Democrat immediately apologized for his remark.

Republicans call Sweeney’s comment “way out of line.”

The South Jersey lawmaker also said at the event he’s thinking about getting into the governor’s race.

Serves Christie right. This is his payback for turning on his party and supporting Obama

Did Christie really want the storm to hit New Jersey? Fat chance!

That’s just a very nasty thing to say. I think it’s obvious to anyone no matter their politics that Gov. Christie absolutely loves his home state and was devastated by the harm Sandy did to New Jersey. The comment made by Mr. Sweeney says more about him than about Christie.

It’s about time for all of us in the electorate to look at the person in the mirror and ask ourselves why we’d want any of these illiterate, self-centered, self-aggrandizing, obnoxious, odorous malcontents to be running our goverment instead of stamping out license plates for cars. What a joke and it’s both parties.

As said above, a nasty comment that was uncalled for.

What a sick thing to say– that he wanted people to suffer and in some cases even die for political reasons.

    That’s way too personal.
