Washington – Obama To Proceed With Allen Nomination As Supreme NATO Commander in Europe

EPAWashington – President Barack Obama will go ahead with the nomination of General John Allen as supreme NATO commander in Europe now that he has been cleared of professional misconduct in a Pentagon probe, White House spokesman Jay Carney said on Wednesday.

    Allen got caught up in a scandal that prompted retired General David Petraeus to resign as CIA director after his affair with his biographer was exposed. A Pentagon investigation cleared Allen of any wrongdoing, prompting Obama to lift a hold on his nomination for the top NATO job.

    “We intend for the nomination to proceed,” said Carney.
