Photo: Joods ActueelAntwerp, Belgium – An Antwerp judge has ruled against former Neturei Karta member Moshe Aryeh Friedman in his bid to force the all boys Yavne school to accept his three daughters as students. The controversial Friedman made waves just weeks ago when he won a similar lawsuit, forcing Bnos Jerusalem, an all girls school, to enroll his two sons as students, as previous reported on VIN News.

The same judge presided in both cases and Friedman was ordered to pay court costs of €1320 Euro, an equivalent of $1774, in court costs in his suit against Yavne, according to Belgian news site Joods Actueel.

Both schools cater to the Belz community and Belz representatives hope that Friedman’s insistence at enrolling his girls at an all boys school will prove useful in their appeal of the case involving the two young Friedman boys who are currently students at Bnos Jerusalem. The appeals court will rule on the case no later than February 6th.

Since registering at Bnos Jerusalem on January 7th, the school is reporting that dozens of students have stayed home in protest and swimming has been cancelled for the entire school year. Both eight year old Yosef and his brother, twelve year old Yaakov, are said to be unhappy in their new environment with Yosef reportedly bursting into tears repeatedly and a silent Yaakov refusing to cooperate in school.

Meanwhile, Israeli news source B’Chadrei Chareidim (http://bit.ly/WlsUJu) is reporting that Malka Friedman, paternal grandmother of the two boys has retained Antwerp lawyer Henri Rosenberg to file a request to have the children removed from Friedman’s custody. Ivola Rosenzweig, the boys’ maternal grandmother, has asked to join the request.

According to Rosenberg, the Friedmans have also been moving from apartment to apartment after allegedly being evicted twice for not paying their rent.

Rosenberg, who is representing Mrs. Friedman pro bono, hopes to have a decision on the case shortly.

Boruch Hashem….someone speaking up for these abused children…where were the grandparents till now?
Nebech, to think that the wife would allow her kids to sit in that environment all day, what does she think…..they are happy? They are probably the butt of everyone’s joke in school….how could she, as a mother allow her boys to be so hurt???? I don’t get it…If she is also abused, get out with the kids and go home..she already tried that once…why did she come back to this sick man? Her life and the lives of her children are the most important thing. Don’t worry about threats from this guy..There is plenty of support out there for you. You have parents and in-laws who know their child is COOOOOCOOOOO….go home with the kids and don’t look back!!!!!
P.S.the whole yiddishe world is on your side…have no fear…DO IT!!!

If the schools would originally have let the boys in the boys school and the girls in the girls school there wouldn’t be this crazy scenerio. But noooooooooo since the father is a former, that’s FORMER member of Neturay Karta, they wouldn’t allow his kids into the schools. Hence, lawsuit, publicity (negative), world news, and of course all the important comments coming here on VIN from all the “mavens” who understand this problem completely.

What a shame!! These people deserve all the things that happen to them for being part of the neturie karte offshoot, but the children don’t. And of course they are always the ones who suffer for their parents stupidity. Nebach. I hope the grandmother wins custody of these kids. Kol Hakavod to her for realizing how the children are suffering.

For some time now this story is making news. VIN has not ventured to report the motivation for this bizarre behavior. Why would a chasidishe father put his sons in an all girls school? If the parents are mentally deranged then the judge should have had the capacity to understand them to be so.

    What is really going on?

Wow what a twisted case this is,this freedman is absolutly out of his mind he is abusing his children terribly from reading here i see they are very very disgusted with their father antics, the children should be taken away from him and his wife they both are unfit parents.

Bubby stepped in too late, I’m afraid. The kids are already damaged from this humiliating experience and will forever be changed and shamed. Too bad the State didn’t step in and remove the kids from the home when this first happened. The family is not thinking rationally.

If this father truly loved his children, he’d publicly proclaim that he’s split from the neturei karta and is no longer a follower and he made some mistakes in the past and if in fact he hurt anyone he begs for ‘mechilah’. Then maybe life will go on with at least some semblance of normalcy for the poor kids.

It is really horrific that the children must go through such suffering. Having said that, I think that it’s crucial that certain elements in the community must understand that there exist certain “red lines”, such as giving kavod to and hobnobbing with Holocaust deniers, which cannot be crossed.

    1) I hope the grandmother is a capable, loving, caring, normal individual
    2) I wish her much hatzlocha in gaining custody of the children and wish her hatzlocha in nurturing them
    3) I hope after all that the mother of these children gets the help she needs

Using children as pawns takes a deranged parent. Even if the father is a “former” neturai karta member, it still sounds to me that the deranged part is still going on.

The kids should have been removed from his custody a long time ago.

Is there some reason he doesn’t want the bus in a boys school and the girls in a girls school?

    Iamlost

He did not want his kids to go to a girls school. But since the boys school is not subsidized, they have the right to refuse to admit his kids. He thought that by forcing the girls school to accept them, (which is subsidized and must take in everyone) he will force the boys school to take them in.

BH Am Yisrael is a sympathetic nation. The school would do good to read some comments here and see public sympathy lies with the kids. The poor children need not suffer because of their fathers sins. I now understand the reasoning of the judge. For had the schools accepted the kids and taught them Torah they would not be dealing with a complete disruption of their girls schools. This is a lesson for all our schools.

There’s an error in the article, it should be “the judge has ruled against former Neturei Karta member Moshe Aryeh Friedman in his bid to force the GIRLS’ Yavne school to accept his three daughters as students. The girls don’t have a diploma from elementary school (as a result of living all over, inclusive Teheran), so the law is on the side of the school.

It’s about time the media changes Friedman’s title from “former NK member” to “current zionist member”.
If his pro or anti zionist stance really matters, why not mention where he’s at it currently?

His being former Neturei karta was not the issue, even if that’s how it was reported. The issue is his being a troublemaker and causing legal problems for everybody involved.

His mother is a very nice, smart woman but requesting custody earlier would have been futile. There needs to be real proof of the kids being harmed for a judge to remove kids from their parents, which has only happened now with this bizarre turn of events.

If anyone truly believes that a judge, in Belguim nonetheless, will have the kids removed from their parents because of boys school vs girls school etc. etc., then I have a bridge for sale.

this is one big mess with many players including the yeshiva who refused to accept his children. Maybe he thought they would give in once the the girls school was forced to accept them? Why did they not back down after that ruling?

Punish the kids because of the father since when is that permitted?

Baruch HaShem!!!! I am crying tears of joy for these children!! Finally someone is stepping in and will hopefully with continued rachamim from HaShem save these innocent children from their abusive parents!!!

As a child of an abusive home- oh how I wished someone…. someone would say something, do something.. .save us….

I said from the beginning of this abusive circus- that child services should take the children… or the community should take them..
People in the community and abroad need to realize that these children are innocent victims being used as pawns… I was there.. in similar shoes.. they are defenseless, helpless while under the care of their dictatorship parents… they have to comply or else…

I hope and pray that the grandparents are healthier and do gain custody and these children start rebuilding their lives… repairing scars that last a lifetime, healing pain that subsides but is never forgotten and may G-D bless them with a lifetime of happiness, peace, stability, a life of normal functioning and love and happiness…

The reason the schools didnt want his kids in the first place was bc he causes legal trouble and blackmail in any school they attend.
I’m so happy his mother got involved. She’s a wonderful lady & I sincerely hope she gets custody. Her mother lives in Antwerp and I hope she gets involved.

This Friedman is an Oizvarf of the worse kind. It was not enough to put all of Klal Yisrael in danger by kissing our enemy in Teheran, but now he is destroying the lives of his own flesh and blood. The unfortunate consequence of this Meshugana is the harm he is doing to his own children. All the Yeshivas and bais yakovs are 100% correct to keep out this Menuval from the walls of their schools, unfortunately his kids are paying the price as well.

I wish the Jewish world- all levels- chassidish, yeshivish, modern orthodox, YU… would wake up & realize that ABUSE is quite rampant in our communities.
I was raised in a horrifically abusive childhood, was married to an abusive man, watched several aunts married to abusive men… seriously- there are so many battered women in our world.
so many abused children. Abuse is verbal, emotional, mental, physical & sexual… e/ 1 alone is so damaging & leaves permanent effects. I know at least 50 families that are dysfunctional abusive families. S/ are extremely wealthy & you would NEVER guess… Some are modern orthodox, chassidish, yeshivish, young Israel, YU..etc,,,,, Abusive personalities are in EVERY society.
I wish there was something we can do to help break the cycle of abuse – at least for the next generations… I hope that 1 day – all schools and Yeshivas will have mandatory classes that will teach their students the red flags of an abuser- so they can pick it up on a date or b’show…
When I look at year book photos. I cry- knowing that at least 25% of the graduating grade will marry an abuser. who you marry determines the quality of life you will have…chaos or peace
