Brooklyn, NY – Kudos To Hikind Doing Whats Right, To Prevent MRSA.

    11

Brooklyn, NY – “Frequent hand washing and/or hand cleansing is the first line of defense in the war against super bug MRSA this antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Now we have the real power of the pen in our hands,” said Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn). “We have to put that power in our children’s hands; these GelRite pens are self-contained dispensers with alcohol-based hand sanitizer. They’re compact and easy to use and will encourage students to clean their hands frequently. A few ounces of pen prevention are worth pounds of cure.”

Hikind thanked DermaRite Inc. for their donation of 10,000 pens to schools. “I applaud Executive Vice President & General Counsel Naftali Minzer; President Norman Braunstein; and Mark Friedman, Executive Vice President of Operations for DermaRite for taking the initiative to protect our schoolchildren,” said Hikind. If children will be taught proper handwashing/sanitizing at an early age, they will take these habits with them for life. These hand sanitizers are great for the times when you can’t get to soap and water, but don’t want to hold onto the germs any longer.

re- chaim said…..it is true that al pi halacha we HAVE to wash our hands at specific times. However how many yeshivos/ shules have clean bathrooms that are conducive to proper sanitary conditions ie. soap and PAPER TOWELS TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF GERMS AND VIRUSES. WAKE UP NOW BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. Hindsight is 20/20.

Finally Hikind is getting his name in the news for something that actually affects directly his constituents rather than all the issues in a place where he is not an elected official!!

wow! the child dies in a public school and the yeshivos and shuls get blamed!! Chaim, how bad is the sanitary nature of us Jews. I know some folks claim we are dirty Jews, but with all the requirements of washing according to Halacha (for bread, before Shabbos with soap) we outlived the bubonic plague. I don’t think our community has an issue with this.

however, Mr. Hikind fails to warn folks — hand sanitizer, if licked by a baby, can send the baby to the hospital with an overdose of alcohol. It isn’t that bright of an idea to give these pens out to kids.
