The former Republican presidential nominee tells Fox News that Washington’s latest budget battle wasn’t “a success” for the president.

Obama rallied against a series of deep federal spending cuts but couldn’t convince Congress to adopt an alternative. The cuts begin to take effect Friday.

In an interview scheduled to air Friday evening, Romney says Obama has been, quote, “berating Republicans and blaming and pointing.” The former Massachusetts governor calls on the president to instead, quote, “lead the nation and to bring Republicans and Democrats together.”

Romney says it’s a job only Obama can do.

Romney has been living in seclusion in California since November.

Even the most hard core sycophant must admit that one of Obama’s biggest failures has been his inability to reign-in congress. Every president has to deal with members of the other party; they negotiate, deal, bribe, do what they must to swing the vote.

Obama has just not been able to get his arms around this necessary presidential skill. In this case, he did not even try. He seemed quite content to slander the “evil republicans” for not giving in to him. (I don’t blame them, they already stated their position: no tax increases for anyone when the economy is struggling to recover.) People might have fallen for that had Woodward not called him out on it. That angered Obama to threats!

A more skillful leader would have called opposition party leaders to camp David and dealt with them.

Of course he does. He’s a Republican. The President could shower him with gold, and he’d complain it was heavy.
