The NEW YORK DAILY NEWS (http://nydn.us/14Sb03s) reports that the restructuring also resulted in the release of the two full-time drivers who had been assigned to the departing board members.
Conditions of the bill, which was sponsored by Assembly Housing Committee Chairman Keith Wright (D-Brooklyn), assign Mayor Bloomberg’s office the responsibility of appointing the six new volunteers who will be paid a “per diem” stipend and who will not be provided with drivers.
The restructuring of the board comes on the heels of reports that revealed a backlog of some 420,000 apartment repairs under its current make-up.
Now let’s wait and see what this “per diem stipend” comes out to annually.
What a great idea. Take away bloated salaries and perks like a driver (who needs that??)
Volunteers? Ha. They will participate in joint ventures that enure to there benefit.
