THE TIMES OF ISRAEL (http://bit.ly/15B0Imx) reports that, on Tuesday, Maj. General (res) Giora Eiland confirmed previous statements attributed to him on an Israeli website, saying that “[Prime Minister Benjamin] Natanyahu seriously considered a preemptive strike on Iran, and the Americans were not excited about the idea.”
The Israeli website Mida reported earlier Tuesday that Eiland had discussions about the topic at a private meeting two weeks ago, saying that Netanyahu had originally planned to strike Iran sometime between September and October of 2012, but was asked to hold off by Obama so as not to interfere with the 2012 U.S. presidential elections.
The report quoted Eiland as saying, “On many subjects Israel can perform independently, but when an issue involves something of American interest, we cannot act against their will.”
When asked to comment further, Eiland attempted to distance himself from the Mida report, saying, “The quotes are rife with inaccuracies.”
And, of course, Israel gladly obliged. We should have demanded that the US release Pollard as a good will gesture just like Kerry asked Israel to release 104 murderers to restart the “peace process.”
Just like it was reported back in July last year that Israel was ready to bomb Iran. There is no such thing as element of surprise anymore – even more so when it comes to military.
Israel has neither the moral nor the means to attack Iran. This is all show so the world thinks Israel is prepared
