Borough Park – New York City mayoral hopeful Bill de Blasio is criticizing his opponent Joe Lhota for campaigning in a Brooklyn synagogue that would not allow women to enter.

Lhota, a Republican, was on a walking tour of the Borough Park neighborhood on Wednesday when he entered the ultra-Orthodox Shomer Shabbos synagogue.

A synagogue official then asked three women – a reporter, a Lhota campaign aide, and a member of the candidate’s security team – to leave but said the men could stay.

Lhota emerged from the synagogue a minute later. He defended the synagogue’s religious practices as “First Amendment constitutional rights.”

De Blasio, a Democrat, said Thursday he found it “perplexing” that Lhota would go in when women were not allowed.

    The election is Nov. 5.

Religious freedoms, they just need to be educated on our customs, that’s it!

I’m offended by anyone using a shul as a campain stop. Although Lhota is halachically Jewish through his maternal grandmother, I very much doubt that he stopped by Shomer Shabbos to daven Mincha.

and we have a bunch of frum people endorsing this radical liberal minded individual… and btw, it’s becoming more obvious with each passing day that he’s no jew lover in general and even less so the frum jews… but for some reason he’s being endorsed by a large bloc of the frum community… amazing…

There you have it all you so called Askonim big machers.
All of you who keep on endorsing gay candidates and politicians who are for gay marriage, imagine what will happen if an openly so called orthodox gay Menuval would want to daven for the Amud and would be refused just imagine how that shull would be sued and fined.
What a lowlife this Bill de Blasio is who has the chutzpa to use this as politics.

Not that I’m defending deblasio, but remember that Lhota tried to stick it to deblasio for eulogizing Rav Ovadia.

So De Blasio defends the rights of an hateful anti-Israel protester to teach at his children’s school, but not for a mayoral candidate to respect the religious customs of frum Jews?

he will be the next Bloomberg as far as religion is concerned. Bloomberg went after bris milah he has a problem with mechitza, next will be boys only yeshiva classrooms then shechita but the askanim only think about welfare section 8 and food stamps.
He is showing you who he is but i guess money still talks louder than our ethics

Would DeBlasio go to a public toilet where woman are not allowed?

What made him decide that his practice how he was grown up is perfect, and everyone else is to extreme.

Will BDB be perplexed if the Muslims for Deblasio asked him to come to a Mosque but remove his shoes 1st? Or if they told him his wife must cover her hair?

shame on the “askanim” lol.( I love that title) and anyone else, who votes for this deviant. doesn’t anyone in the frum community have any backbone? youll vote for the Devil, himself? as long as he brings you the farshtunkene section 8 and medicaid? youll sell your souls for a good program?
so,everything the torah writes about deviant behavior doesnt apply when it comes to a politician? or politics?
fech. as meir kahane, used to say it’s all lip service. how right he was. is this what yiddishkeit is all about? learn one thing, and do another?

The shul was wrong to kick out the women. Every shul should have a mechitzah. Even Shomer Shabbos.
