A state Supreme Court judge ruled Thursday against a group of neighbors and businesses that sued the city over a Citi Bike docking station in a lower Manhattan park.
Friends of Petrosino Square and others argued the station should’ve been shifted to an on-street car-parking area across the street. They also said the station disrupted an area dedicated for public art.
But Judge Cynthia Kern disagreed and dismissed their lawsuit. Kern ruled the bike station was appropriate for the park and the decision to place it there was rational after alternative locations proved unrealistic.
Friends of Petrosino Square President Georgette Fleischer called the decision incorrect and said her attorneys would appeal.
Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan called the decision a victory for Citi Bike riders.
All this suit achieved was a waste of taxpayer money.
How come Nanny Bloomberg says nothing about the lack of helmets?
I guess they didn’t provide helmets because people would steal them, and it was too cumbersome to implement a take and return policy. However, that doesn’t mean there won’t be accidents in which the lack of a helmet causes brain injury or death.
And the city will be sued, and you and I will pay millions for it.
Why? Because the city “KNEW” that people renting would ride without helmets. And the jury will zap the city.
