The vice president’s office tweeted a photo of Biden and the Oscar-winning comedienne sitting side by side and smiling on an Amtrak train.

Biden on Friday was scheduled to travel to his home state of Delaware Friday to accept an award from the Delaware Barristers Association. A lifelong Amtrak passenger, Biden frequently takes the train to and from weekend stays at his Delaware home.

The vice president’s office says the locomotive rendezvous was a complete coincidence.

Goldberg helped raise money for President Barack Obama’s re-election. And Biden once chatted up Goldberg and her gal pals when he was a guest on ABC’s “The View.”

Biden is the #1 passenger in the history of Amtrak. He was elected to the US Senate in 1972 and never moved to Washington until he was elected Vice President in 2008, returning back to Delaware almost every night back on Amtrak.

…so, what is being suggested is that the VP travels on Amtrack and the secret sevice has no clue ahead of time that Whoopi will be sitting next to him… P-L-E-A-S-E!!!

Wow! Interesting. Doesn’t he need bullet proof windows ? And nice to see he doesn’t spend money on a 12 car entourage!

Refreshing to see two people who are real enough to take normal transport.

The last American President to use the railroads, was President Harry S. Truman, who used the trains during the campaign of 1948. There was bullet resistant glass installed on his cars. Also, in December, 1973, President Richard Nixon was the only American President to fly on a regular scheduled commercial flight from D.C. to California. In fact, during that flight, he shook hands with a number of the passengers. This occurred during the Arab oil embargo. I doubt if a President flying by commercial airliner would be repeated today, because of security concerns.

For those of you who don’t know, Biden’s wife and daughter were killed in a car crash shortly after he was first elected to the Senate. His two young sons survived. Biden determined to take the train home every evening from Washington to be with his sons. He has continued to take the train now that his sons are grown.
