The group has long been accused of severe child abuse and neglect, and it feared that Canadian welfare authorities would remove the children from Lev Tahor. The group consists of 40 families, mainly native Israelis and their Canadian-born children.

Lev Tahor is led by convicted kidnapper Shlomo Helbrans. He opened the Lev Tahor yeshiva in Jerusalem in the mid-1980s, and fled to the U.S. in 1990 after an Israeli investigation for ties with what was then the Islamic Movement in Israel.

“for ties with what was then the Islamic Movement in Israel.”
Nonsense. This wording is repeated verbatim on many websites. There’s no source for such a silly statement.

    Hi Everyone
    I’ll keep it short….
I have family from Toronto who is in Lev Tahor, (those in Toronto know who this person is.) (More unbiased info can be found on the Kehila’s website.
In general, two “Mosrim” who were previously members of the Kehila have falsely reported info to the Youth Protection (DYP) of Quebec. The DYP, with the internet as source of information and proof for the alegation have brought in all social workers with plans to take custody of the children the same day. When they arrived and questioned the children and parents, and medical and body checks have been conducted, they concluded the reports as baseless.

It came to a point where the only reason they had to take custody was for the education issue Lev Tahor was having an issue daling with. (Interestingly, this past Shabbos the Rov of Satmar has declared they may have to relocate due to this issue)
There is a lot more to say, and people should be wary of spreading rumors, we see the consequences how a whole Kehila has made mesirus nefesh to move to Ontario where homeschooling is legal, and Darwinism (Kefira)

The article is mostly full of lies. I am not from that community but, I know them well, and their children are well taken care of, are very happy, not abused etc. The rebbitzen was never beaten by her husband’s talmidim, their son didn’t have his legs broken and left lying in the snow. Their girls do not have a life of “servitude”, but, do help at home with child care and other household duties. There is nothing wrong with that. Most of this generation’s children grow up spoiled and don’t know anything about keeping house when they get married. Some of the girls got married young, mostly to young men like themselves, not twice their age. Anyway, there is nothing wrong halachically with marrying an older man. No one there got forced into an unwanted marriage. Their diet definitely includes fruits and vegetables and they eat very healthfully, not all that prepared junk food that most of us eat loaded with sugar and artery clogging garbage. The article in the Times of Israel is just a biased slander piece full of hatred and venom and untruths.
