As reported by Israel National News (http://bit.ly/1iPJi2e) the students, both age 18, did not show up at the IDF’s Recruitment Bureau after having received summonses to report for duty.

The topic of hareidi enlistment is contentious subject in Israel. A currently debated law proposed by the Coalition would strengthen permissions on hareidim who avoid enlistment and the yeshivas where they study.

Yesh Atid stressed the importance of criminal sanctions that should be instituted against hareidi men who avoid service. Hareidi leaders say that Torah study takes precedence over serving in the army, and that grants that exempt full-time yeshiva students from service should be extended.

The Steipler Gaon was drafted into the Russian Army. He was smart enough to get out. Why didn’t he go to jail instead of going into the army?
Yes, it was hard for him (he lost some of his hearing). But it was a Kiddush Hashem when the other people in the army saw how he conducted himself.

Too bad the current crop of Yeshiva students are too stupid to make a Kiddush Hashem in the IDF; rather, they would make a chillul Hashem by causing strife among Jews and throwing stones at other people who are sworn to defend them.

This is not a case where the government wants to destroy a Torah way of life. By letting the irreligious control the army, the chareidim are destroying the Torah way of life, themselves. If the chareidim were in the army, they could control so much more. Just look and see what is being lost because they decided not to be in the coalition.

And I’ll say it again: It’s okay for them to steal from the Government but when things don’t go their way they seem to throw a tantrum and make a chillul Hashem.

Ehrliche Torah yidden will go to jail rather than be exposed to the spiritual dangers of the IDF. The Israeli government will not break us down, rather it’ll make us stronger and prouder to serve Hashem.

    protesting in israel is worthless
אין חבוש מתיר עצמו מבית האסורים
Their must be a diaspora outcry coupled with legal action, perhaps in an international court, to bring these hardnecks to their senses.

Of course they shouldn’t enlist – only the ‘secular’ & ‘ tzonim’ should. Why should good ” fruma yidden” risk their lives to protect the country they live in and shed their blood to protect against the 25 million hostile neighbors. At while the secular & tzonim are at it please send the check to fund our way of life too.

very sad that these are our leaders. telling everyone to break the law is not leadership. they should be arrested and placed in jail. they can continue to learn the “Toyreh” in jail.
All these protesters are nothing but a bunch of leidigeiers. They dont work or learn; just take.

    Will someone please explain:

These Yidden claim that they are doing their share to protect Israel by learning. Their reasoning is that they learn Torah and, therefore, Hashem protects.

Why not apply the same attitude to demonstrations?

Rather than leave the Study Halls to demonstrate, why do they not apply themselves to their learning, and let Hashem protect them as a merit for their learning.

There are two ways to stop the draft I overheard chevra talking in shul this morning. One is that chareidi americans warn israel they will outvote politicians in ny and0 nj that fund them. And the second way is for rabbis in eretz yisroel urge all yeshiva draftees to work as spys for cia. They spend billions spying on israel. They won’t trust another chareidi again just as they don’t draft arabs because of trust.

Reply to 19. What about beating the crap out of the secular meclal shabbosniks, pork eaters and tattooed bums in israel.

First of all, they can stop funding all they want; a good portion of chareidim do not accept funding to begin with, so no harm done. Also, most chareidim/ MO/ observant Jews, don’t have “crap”; so, they can beat all they want and nothing much will change. Two completely ineffective solutions.
