Moscow, Russia – An Israeli woman 27 year old Mrs. Yael Antinev a mother of 2 kids, was murdered in Russia today by a perp who slit her throat, on her way escorting a friend to the Ohaley Yaakov Yeshiva in Moscow, where her husband teaches.

ZAKA representative in Moscow, Shaya Deutsche, said that the witnesses in the crime scene reported they heard screaming near the yeshiva and that nearby fire fighting forces quickly arrived at the scene. They summoned the police, which managed to arrest the suspect. The murder was apparently criminally motivated not anti-semitic.

The victim’s husband, who was not at the yeshiva, saw that his wife was late to return and went looking for her. When he reached the yeshiva entrance, he received the bad news.

ZAKA’s volunteers in Moscow collected the blood.

Chief Rabbi of Russia Berel Lazar is working with the local authorities to prevent a postmortem operation of the victim and help Zaka transfer the body for burial in Israel.

We shoulden’t be in Russia period. We left there for a reason and we don’t belong there. This is what happenes when we stick our necks out again. Same goes for Poland.

Baruch Dayan Emes – only HaShem can see why this has to happen.

To the previous anonymous post, it should be stated that the husband’s yeshiva, Yeshiva Ohelei Yaakov is out outpost of Torah in an otherwise unholy city. I studied there for six months, and have seen some of the best efforts at kiruv rechokim in Russia. To the point of “this is what happens when we stick out our necks”, the reader should understand that currently, B”H, five yeshivas in Moscow are helping a unobservant population of 200,000 Yidden. To suggest that we should not stick out our necks puts the memory to this woman in vain. These people teach at Yeshiva Ohelei Yaakov for kiruv, for understanding that va im lo achshav amasai.

It also should be mentioned that this specific yeshiva hosts students from former block countries. There are no mainstream yeshivas in Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Uzbekistan. For those Yidden, Yeshiva Ohelei Yaakov is it. And Klal Yisrael lost a hero, a yid that was meseras nefesh for Torah.

The frum Jews who have returned to Moscow to help the general Jewish population should put their differences aside and concentrate on the security situation.

We shouldn’t be there? There are hundreds of thousands of yidden that are waiting for us to be mekarev them to yiddishkeit. The Ribono Shel Olam is waiting for us to be mekarev HIS CHILDREN. And you have the chutzpua to say we shouldn’t be there? Why is America any better? This couldn’t happen here in Boro Park or Williamsburg. How about Yerushlayim? Is it safe over there? May we be there? With your permission. This women was a hero! Dare you even think that could critize her!

What a tragedy a young woman murdered in a crime of opportunity. Even though it was not anti-semitic in its intent that is no consolation to that young family still in all I can’t understand why Russian Jewry would want to share their expertise and various talents in a country that can’t handle individual freedom and that little Israel will have to show that they are not as tough as they think in the near future. My sympathy goes out to the unfortunate family.
