NYPOST.com (http://bit.ly/1lynnvR) reports that attorney Taylor Koss, one of the lawyers representing Fleming, said it would be wise if the city got out in front of Fleming’s suit and settled early like it did with David Ranta.

Fleming was freed in April after Brooklyn prosecutors admitted to being in possession of a Florida hotel receipt placing Fleming at Disney World while the 1989 murder was being committed.

Koss said, “The truth is, he’s been struggling. This money is important to him so he can establish his life again.”

It’s been estimated that 5% or more of those sitting in prisons for such crimes are there as innocents on charges made up against them. With 2 million plus inmates in US prisons, do the math. That’s a lot of lawsuit money.
