The attack wreaked havoc in downtown Jerusalem. Traffic was halted, and hundreds of people fled through the streets in panic as medics treated the wounded.

At the scene of the attack, two cars were flattened and a third was overturned. A bus also was overturned, and another bus was heavily damaged.

Israel’s national rescue service confirmed two deaths, and the two bodies lay motionless on the ground covered in plastic.

“I saw the bulldozer smash the car with its shovel. He smashed the guy sitting in the driver’s seat,” said Yaakov Ashkenazi, an 18-year-old seminary student.

Israel’s national rescue service said that 22 people were wounded, with at least 14 people hospitalized. Injured people sat dazed on the ground amid piles of broken glass and blood stains on the street. A baby had blood all over its face, and the driver of the bulldozer was slumped motionless over the steering wheel.

Yosef Spielman, who witnessed the attack, said the bulldozer picked up a car “like a toy.” “I was shocked. I saw a guy going crazy,” he said. “All the people were running. They had no chance.”

In a statement, police said a “terrorist” had carried out the attack but gave no further details.
Zaka emergency service identified the driver as a Palestinian resident of Arab East Jerusalem

The attack occurred in an area where Jerusalem is building a new train system. The project has turned many parts of the city into a big construction zone.

A soldier on leave took the gun from an elite policeman at the scene and shot the terrorist dead. The soldier, Moshe Klessner, 18, is the brother-in-law of IDF officer David Shapira, who killed the terrorist in the Mercaz Harav Yeshiva attack, Channel 2 reported.

the victims killed have been indentified as
    1. Bat Sheva Unterman from Jerusalem age of 33.
    2. Elizabeth (Lili) Goren-Friedman, 54 of Jerusalem
    3. Zen Raluay, 68, from Gilo

But now nobody should condemn the brutal killing of innocent civilians, an unprovoked attack by a vicious arab terrorist..

all big mouths politicians and internet bloggers should only condemn the Israelis when Israelis accidentally hit some civilians while aiming at destroying terrorist hideouts or terrorist shooting points (which the arabs would usually place close to a residential house to protect it with civilian shields).

I concur with anon 8.53 am. The heretic state of Israel has only bought death and destruction onto the Jews living there since day one. Remember that before Zionisism was ever contemplated Jews lived peacefully in the middle east for centuries. Once the evil Herzl and his cohorts planted this evil concept , we have only suffered since. How many thousands of jewish lives have been cut short because of Zionism? We say in musaf , umipnei chataenu golenu meartzenu, that means we have no right to forcefully take the land. Only through divine intervention will the jews rule the land and the entire world will recognize that the Almighty is the one and only G-D.

9:42–you are really naive. Do you think for one moment that the arabs would stop the slaughter without the medina. Remember Hevron in 1929!! There was no medina at that time. There would be no yidden in Eretz Yisroel today without the medina. Wake up!! When the time comes to flee America (and that time will come), you can flee to Africa.

I disagree with anon 853am Before Israel was created there were pogroms in the 1920’s and 1930’s and hundreds of jews were killed. What Israel does need to do is throw out the NETUREI KARTA and place them in arab countries let see how they like it there.

8:53 and 9:42 are unfortunately so right, The Jewish inhabitants in Eretz Yisroel lived there in peace for hundreds of years, getting along wit their Arab neighbors better than the Europeans with their non Jewish neighbors.

Unfortunately when The monster herzl came up with the Zionist movement, and they started talking about taking over Eretz Yisroel (Palestine at that time) they brought upon the yidden there destruction and death r”l. it started with the pogrom in Chevron which was the first Arab reaction to the call to the jews worldwide to “emigrate and go up to Israel”, from then on the bloodshed did not stop. Eichmann captured by Israel

    Entebbe rescued by Israel

And many more such missions that are not openly known to ignorant people

Now more than ever we need the land of Israel

    Good Morning Fellow Yidden,

I have just spent some time reading the comments posted above (along with many previous stories), and I just wish I knew how to convey my emotions. I read about people throwing acid on young girls, breaking windows of shops, blaming the tzionim for our brothers and sisters getting murdered. I was born and raised frum by holocaust survivors, but yet was never taught such hatred towards other jews. My lesson was that Hitler didn’t care if you were chasidish, litvish, conservative, or completely unobservant. You were a JEW, and that alone was enough for him. Yet, every time we are hit with a tragedy, there are always those that defend the horrible acts and find “reasons” that they happen. When the few leftovers came crawling out of the ashes of WWII, they didn’t judge anyone. Everyone got along, whether the woman covered their hair or not, whether they were chasidish or not, whether they went mixed swimming or not, etc. Are we better than them? I think not. Not everyone wants to be chasidish, not everyone wants to be yeshivish, not everyone wants to be modern orthodox, but in the end, we all have something in common; we are Jews. We daven 3 times a day, we learn, we keep shabbos, etc. And everyone needs to respect everyone else, no matter what. If you don’t like someone’s music, don’t listen; if you don’t like the way certain women dress, don’t look. I think you all understand what I am trying to say.

It is truly very sad that this is Yiddishkeit today. I, for one, am quite disappointed.

Shocking! Disgusting! We have just witnessed yet another disgraceful murder of our brothers, and some of us can only get political and blame fellow Jews?

Zelig makes a very important point. Yes, there are very chushuva sheetos that condemn Zionism. The Satmar Rov, zt”l, is the best known, but far from the only one. And clearly the state was founded in large part by non-religious, and even virulently anti-religious yidden. Understood.

But the question is, Now what? The medina has been there for 60 years. Clearly, the ratzon HaShem has been for it to be here, whether, l’chatchila, it was created B’issur or B’heter. There are millions of Jews living there. Does anyone have a good idea for what to do, if the state were to follow the advice of 8:53 and 9:42 and just fold up it’s tents and disband? Learn to live “peacefully” under the Arabs.

Obviously, that is not a choice. Even assuming that the Arabs were benevolent and kind prior to Herzl (not really, btw), it is clear that this “Genie” is not going back in the “bottle” anytime soon.

So please, after a terrible attack on some of our innocent Acheinu B’nai Yisroel, lets stop with the politics, and grieve and sympathize a little.

10:39, first of all the Gemora you refer to is at Daf 111a, not 112.

But more importantly, who are we to determine what current events are a kiyum of which gemora, maamrei chazel, or divrei nevi’im? Yes, Rav Elazar speaks of great punishments for violating the gimmel sh’vuos. Some Rabbonim feel, for various reason, that these sh’vuos do not apply. Others feel that they do.

But regardless, is it for us to decide exactly what message HaShem is sending?

And again I ask, even assuming that you somehow *know* that the nimshal is to be m’vatel the medina, how ought this be done? Do you have a recommendation that would spare klal yisroel from further bloodshed, ch”v? Of course you don’t!

So perhaps if we have to give each other mussar and hochocha, it should be directed at areas that should actually be improved upon. (I am sure that you can think of a few examples.)

To all those comments proclaiming the Arabs masscare in 1929, whats wrong with you, yes there was no official state but Zionism was well into fruition and thats what ticked them off. None of you ignorant people remember history. When the idea of forming a homeland for the Jewish people was initiated ALL the gedolim at that time including the chofetz Chaim, Rav Elchonan and plenty others were dead set against it. They knew what there evil inclinations were and how many tens of thousands of yiddishe neshomas were eliminated by Zinists thugs yemach shemo vezichro. To all those that say we must have a Jewish homeland by force , how can you justify all the killings and all the shmad by these Zionists beheimos ? What good has the Medina done spiritually for the Jewish people ? You are s o flawed in your thinking that they hate us regardless so why not fight. Yes they hate us, because against halacha and against human rights the arabs were kicked out in 1948.Take the gedolims word for it, if not for the stae of Israel , Moshiach would have long been here . That is Ikvesah demeshicha, period.

OK, I have a great idea. The government should set up a recruiting station outside the Kotel. Let them hire every able bodied collector at the Kotel and teach them how to do construction. This way, they earn a parnasa, we get rid of arab workers, and others can concentrate on their tefillos while there.

I love the fact that every Satmar Chossid knows & quotes the “Gimmel Shevous” from the Agadata in Kesubos. Is that taught in lieu of all other teachings? Or is that part of the rhetoric that is spewed by (certain) Chasidim every time a Jew gets killed in Eretz Yisroel?

How many thousands of young men are sitting in Mir and many, many, other yeshivas? Or is that not spiritual?

A little histroy BEFORE Hertzel was born:

1828- There was a massacre of Jews in Baghdad. 1839- in the eastern Persian city of Meshed, a mob burst into the Jewish Quarter, burned the synagogue, and destroyed the Torah scrolls. It was only by forcible conversion that a massacre was averted.

1867- There was another massacre in Barfurush. 1839, the Allahdad incident, the Jews of Mashhad, Iran, now known as the Mashhadi Jews, were coerced into converting to Islam.

In 1840, the Jews of Damascus were falsely accused of having murdered a Christian monk and his Muslim servant and of having used their blood to bake Passover bread.

A Jewish barber was tortured until he “confessed”; two other Jews who were arrested died under torture, while a third converted to Islam to save his life. Throughout the 1860s, the Jews of Libya were subjected to what Gilbert calls punitive taxation. In 1864, around 500 Jews were killed in Marrakech and Fez in Morocco. In 1869, 18 Jews were killed in Tunis, and an Arab mob looted Jewish homes and stores, and burned synagogues, on Jerba Island. In 1875, 20 Jews were killed by a mob in Demnat, Morocco; elsewhere in Morocco, Jews were attacked and killed in the streets in broad daylight. In 1897, synagogues were ransacked and Jews were murdered in Tripolitania.

In 1776, there was a slaughter of Jews at Bosra, and in bitterness of anti Jewish measures taken Muslim rulers in the 18th century caused many Jews to flea.

From 1438, the Jews of Fez were forced to live in special quarters called mellahs, a name derived from the Arabic word for salt because the Jews in Morocco were forced to carry out the job of salting the heads of executed prisoners prior to their public display. Chouraqui sums it up when he wrote: “such restriction and humiliation as to exceed anything in Europe”. Charles de Foucauld in 1883 who was not generally sympathetic to Jews writes of the Jews: “They are the most unfortunate of men, every Jew belongs body and soul to his seigneur, the sid [Arab master]”. Similarly, in 1465, Arab mobs in Fez slaughtered thousands of Jews, leaving only 11 alive, after a Jewish deputy vizier treated a Muslim woman in “an offensive manner.” The killings touched off a wave of similar massacres throughout Morocco.

    Shalll we continue?

The unfortunate fact that these kind of tragedies happens, very abnormal catastrophes that doesn’t appear anywhere in the entire world, as this morning story a murder with a heavy bulldozer driving in middle of a busy street smashing cars & buses which looks like crazy wild dream, or the “suicide bombs” a live person can become like a bomb by simple blowing himself up, even though he gets killed, these things are not “derech-hateve”, by meaning, you would never hear anywhere in the world such kind of murdering, you may hear shootings or bomb explosions r”l, but suicide bombing was created at first in E. Yisroel R”L, this means something to us yidden, it’s a “wink fin himmel” to us yiden on the entire world and in Israel “befrat”.

The simple pusik in “Shi-Hashirim” that states clearly, if you are “Oiver on the three Shevuos”, Hashem says; “Any matir es besarchem k’ayol u’keaylos hasode”, do you have an idea what these words mean, “Leider”, & unfortunately, we’ve learned it, the real hard way, and so many times, but nobody wants to think or talk about, because we’re proud, we have a medina, we have our own army, we’re able to do whatever “we” want, nobody can ever tell us what to do. (And this is the feeling and thought of everybody, frum and un-frum). But Hashems word is forever and ever, as in Parshas “Shlach”, when the Meraglim wanted to go up and Hashem said, do not go now, you’ve already messed up,”Loy ta’alu b’hor ki hashem eneinu bekirbechem” but they didn’t listen, and all got killed. Exactly, and even much worthier is in our days happening. Clearly, Hashem doesn’t want us and doesn’t need us to be in Eretz Yisrorel if we do not “Mekyem” all the Taryag Mitzwoss “Deoyrayso & Derabonon”, this is clearly in Shas & Poskim.

And even if you’re not with this thought that we need a Medina with all the “Hashchose” there is, but simple just giving them any kind of support, or even thinking that there might be any good or even a help of any kind from the Reshoim, is certainly a “Charon-Af” from Hashem R”L, and who knows, whom to claim for this tragedy it happened.

Nothing more is here to discuss, the only thing remains to us yidden to be “mespalel” to hashem that the Medina-shel-gihenim shal be resolved totally, without any harm to Ehrliche yidden. Hashem will see that at least the majority of erliche yidden are not supporting them entirely, he’ll certainly bring the real “Geula”, after all, Moshiach will only come to those Earliche Yidden that are through to him

The point is not, that there was no gzeirois before zionism, but to prove people that the fight against G’D’s gzeiras Golus, did’nt approve protection to jews. In contradiction!
