“We’re concerned about the security of our children,” said Stan Beiner, head of the Epstein School.

The appearance of a swastika near the Epstein School threw a new wrinkle into the debate over the school’s plan to expand.
“Because we’re a Jewish day school, somebody crossed the line,” said Beiner.

The school’s request for a new special use permit for the expansion is now before the city, but the proposal has sharply divided the neighborhood. Pro and con signs can be seen all around the area.

Beiner said someone defaced the signs right in front of the school and spray-painted a nearby speed bump.
“Somebody is very upset. Somebody allowed the argument to get the better of him or her,” said Beiner.

Even critics of the expansion said they were appalled by the vandalism.
“There are quite a few Jewish people in the neighborhood like us. They’re opposed to it too,” said Kurt Soloway.

Neighborhood group leaders who campaigned against the school’s expansion were quick to condemn the incident and offered a reward for information leading to the vandals.

Sandy Springs police said they were investigating the incident as a possible hate crime.

Eisav hates Yakov- thats the “reason”-sounds simplistic, but there is no other logical explanation.
