Police in the Southeast Texas city of Port Arthur believe James Rogers did not know how to manually unlock the 2007 Corvette he recently purchased.

Maj. Raymond Clark says Rogers on Monday stopped at a restaurant for coffee. Clark says Rogers went out to the parking lot to check on his dog and left his cellphone in the restaurant.

Investigators believe a cable became loose after Rogers got in and shut the door, with no power to operate the horn or locks. The man and his dog were found dead about four hours later by another restaurant patron. Temperatures outside reached the 90s.

For a few bucks one can purchase a window breaker and sear belt cutter on amazon. For emergencies such as this

First of all, I feel very badly that the senior citizen had to die in his own car, and could not summon help. It is very, very, difficult to break car windows out, with your bare hands, unless you have a large instrument, such as a hammer. This case, involving a senior citizen, being trapped in his own sweltering car, is extremely unusual. Usually, we read tragic stories of children being left in hot cars, to die, because their parents can’t remember, that their children are in their car. Also, pet owners should not leave dogs in a hot car. One time, I confronted someone who did just that, as a dog had suffered for some time, until the owner came out of a store . Instead of the dog owner being remorseful or apologetic, I saw that the person whom I corrected, tried to approach me in an aggressive manner. I backed up, and stayed away from that psycho. People who treat pets in such an inhumane fashion should not own them.

Nobody noticed him? What a horrible death. And #1 & 2, you are so callous. Imagine it was YOUR father. Not something to joke about then, is it?
