    Chief Jeffrey Blackwell says the officer and the suspect died after the shooting Friday morning in the Madisonville neighborhood.

    The officer was identified as 48-year-old Sonny Kim, a 27-year veteran of the department.

    Authorities didn’t immediately identify the suspect.

    Blackwell says multiple shots were fired between the suspect and officers responding to a 911 call. The chief says he believes the suspect was on the street when police arrived.

    The shooting comes nine days after Cincinnati police released a plan for dealing with a recent surge of gun violence in the city.
