He initially founded Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim of the West Side in conjunction with HaRav Mendel Saks, the son-in-law of the Chofetz Chaim, before starting Yeshiva Tiferes Elimelech many years later.

The Rav was born in Vienna in 1921 into a family with a prestigious lineage. His mother was a granddaughter of the Chasam Sofer’s daughter, Rebbetzin Rechel Friedman, and his father, HaRav Avraham Feigelstock was integral to the establishment of a yeshiva in Vienna where all three of his sons studied Torah on an advanced level. All three sons escaped from Austria in 1939, and came to England via a Kindertransport. Thereafter, they moved to Montreal to continue their studies at Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim.

Speaking of his father, Rabbi Avrohom Feigelstock said, “There was nothing that he cared more about than your hatzlacha.” He was known to spend hours deliberating on how to best help a particular talmid. One the Rav’s colleagues of 40 years spoke of the Rav’s humility, saying rebbeim were considered like family and partners in the yeshiva. “He gave us hours of his time so we could understand him clearly,” said Rabbi Rawicki. “But we never heard him use the phrase ‘I am telling you to do this.’ Never. He never [used his] ownership [of the yeshiva to get his way]. He held that a rebbi was a partner, with opinions of his own.”

“He held that melamdim are shluchei duRachmana, messengers of Hashem,” added The Rav’s son-in-law, HaRav Moshe Mendel Brus.
Among HaRav Feigelstock’s surviving family members are his brothers, HaRav Hershel Feigelstock, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim in Montreal, and HaRav Yitzchak Feigelstock, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva of Long Beach.

Burial took place yesterday at the Woodbridge Cemetery in New Jersey. Shiva is being observed at 1435 42nd Street in Boro Park until Tuesday morning.

Just to note Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim. is the Lubavitcher Yeshiva.
Feigelstock is indeed a prominent chasidishe Mishpocho.

The Rav, Z’TL, had a long life with many accomplishments…..however, at the age of 94 years, its hard to characterize the petirah as “abrupt”.
