Washington – A new Reuters/Ipsos national presidential poll (http://bit.ly/1RmyVEd) out today has taken both pollsters and prospective voters by surprise.

Billionaire Donald Trump, long considered a long shot candidate for the Office of the President, is in a statistical dead-heat with Republican front-runner Jeb Bush. The news comes as a particular shock as Trump continues to deal with the fallout from his offensive remarks about Mexican-Americans and other groups.

According to the poll, Bush is in first place with 27.8 percent, followed closely by Trump at 23.1 percent, and Florida Senator Marco Rubio bringing up the rear at 18.1 percent.  A total of 1,319 Americans over the age of 18 were surveyed, with the breakdown of 551 Democrats, 453 Republicans, and 176 Independents. Among likely Republican voters, the margin of error is approximately 5.2 percent, with 4.8 percent for Democrats, and 8.4 percent for Independents.

As for the Democratic presidential candidates, Hillary Clinton has maintained her lead of 43.9 percent over Vermont Senator Bernie Sander’s 21.3 percent. Sanders’ campaign has struggled to gain additional ground in the past week.

The poll also asked voters about current President Barack Obama, whose approval rating jumped slightly to 45%, with a total of 49% of voters disapproving of the job Obama is doing.

Why does the media always play up these early polls that are based purely on name recognition? Anyone who knows politics knows this has always been the case since most Americans pay almost no attention to politics and don’t even start to really focus on a presidential campaign until the party conventions three months before the election. The fascination among some conservatives with Trump will begin to evaporate once it becomes more wifely known that Trump was a registered Democrat until relatively recently; that most of his political contributions have gone to Democrats including Harry Reid and Hillary Clinton; and that a few years ago he endorsed a single-payer national healthcare program far more radical than Obamacare. These are facts. And once those facts become more widely known, and once the media begin exposing all his business failures and how he was kept afloat by the big banks who had too much invested in him to let him fail, his support will drop faster than you can say “you’re fired!”

Assuming your fact are indeed correct, which I doubt even you know, BFD!!! So he was a democrat, and his support to his then- party shows a Willingness to put his money where his mouth is. And his comeback????? Bigger and better than any you’ve ever seen in any type of arena. Probably will garner a lot of votes from folks who appreciate someone with a pair of kneidlach.

The Donald would be a refreshing change from the political hacks and lobbyists that have controlled this country for decades We have become like the philippines where 2 families control all of the govt. just changing from time to time to give a show of being a democracy

To #2 -Howard-You mean to tell me that you never once in your life borrowed money from a bank? Businesses borrowing money from a bank is a fact of life. The Federal Government, does it every day of the week, via the Federal Reserve System. Trump borrowing money from a bank to keep his businesses afloat (which he incidentally paid back), is not a disqualifier for high office. Case closed!

Normally I wouldn’t vote for a lunatic like The Donald, but after having Obama for 8 years I strongly feel that we need a president with the same qualities as Obama to reverse some of the damages Obama has done.

In other words, it takes a right wing Lunatic, Narcissist, and Sociopath like Trump, to clean up after the left wing Narcissist, Sociopath, Obama. I don’t think a normal politician like Bush etc. can clean up all the mess Obama has left. the Donald can stick his head in the wall and do what he’s gotta do.

I think Oprah would be a great president. Maybe he can fund her???? Just kidding. I think smart mainstream people are not running to be president. Perhaps someone narcissistic and attention seeking would do a great job? Oh, that’s Trump. We need to rethink this carefully.
