Albany, NY – It was at a Hebrew school on New Scotland Avenue and a Community Center off Whitehall Road where Albany police said Rabbi Y, 28, of Loudonville had sexual contact with a 13-year-old boy.

Albany Public Safety Officer James Miller said, “The victim along with some of the other classmates were talking about what happened. Somebody overheard that, anonymously called into the New York State tipline.”
Miller said while Y was teaching at the school, at least two incidents took place, with it happening once at the Community Center. Miller said the abuse went on for 6 months starting last November.
“You have a certain expectation that your kids are going to be safe, that the teachers aren’t going to act in an inappropriate manner which he allegedly did at this point,” said Miller.
Y is rabbi of Chabad Colonie and is best known for fighting with Colonie Center over it not having a Menorah.
Y runs his organization out of his Longwood Drive home. No one answered the door Tuesday afternoon.
With Rosh Hashana, calls to Y attorney and to the number listed for the school were not immediately returned.
Miller said, “The investigation is still open because many instances like this, there is a potential that there are many other victims out there.”
Y is charged with one count of second-degree sex abuse, two counts of third-degree sex abuse and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and released. There is no word on when he’s due back in court.
VIN News has also confirmed that the Y has been removed from his position several weeks ago as soon as it came to light the accusation.

If he is innocent, let him have his day in court. But meanwhile he needs to be kept away from children.

Just because he was arraigned, does not make him guilty. Did VIN in vestigate who the accuser is? could it be that maybe, just maybe it’s a way for someone to take revenge for whatever it is they might want to? This is not the first time someone was falsely accused. I am not saying tht it should not be investigated. but before we smear someones name on the blogs, we should wait for the investigation and court to decide the fait of Rabbi Weiss. Let him take a leave of absence, and prove his innocence. If he is innocent, he should be restored to his job and the community should gather and show their faith is restored in him. But meanwhile, let him stay away.
The police do not make such arrests until they have interviewed the accuser at length and decided that there may be credibility to the story. Such arrests are not made based only upon a story that some child may have fabricated. He may be innocent, but the accusation must have sounded credible enough for the police to act.

Innocent until proven guilty? It could take many months until the court sorts out what the real truth is. Meanwhile, the community shouldn’t have to take any chances. Let him take a leave of absence.
What if he was accused of selling unkosher chicken? Would you still say ‘innocent until proven guilty, meanwhile keep buying chickens from him’? You would close him down until the facts were proven.

I heard that somebody local is out to get him after they got into a dispute over a money, and that person is behind this.
It is an obligation to publicize this, so parents can protect their children.

it is important to get information like this out. Now because more people are willing to expose these sick people we may finally be able to have some handle on this horrible situation that has plagued us for years. Yes, his name should not be mentioned until he is either proven guilty or the charges are proven false, but if he is proven guilty his name should be published. maybe then we can not only start to stop this but to give the victims a chance to heal, to recognize how horrible the situation is for them
Guys dont jump to conclusions ..He was charged based on a alegation , A complaint that was filed against him. Now comes the trial part or the investigation part . He might be innocent. Thats how the system works ..He might be a zadick , HE might be a rosho. Just hold you horses and wait till things clear up. In short anyone can get arrested based on a complain , being arrested does not mean being guilty.

Apparently, this charge is based on the fact that he gave the kid a neck massage.
The childs family did not file the complaint. Someone overheard the kid talking about the neck massage and anonymously informed child protective services.
I heard there is someone out to get him after a financial dispute.
Proceed with caution. Smells like a set up to me.
In this day and age, a “neck massage” IS way out of line ! Theres no reason for a rebbi to give a child a massage, he is a rebbi, not a chiropractor
