New York – A landmark New York City hotel’s bid to get rid of a bicycle-sharing rack from a space across from its entrance has been rejected.

The state Supreme Court appellate division’s First Department said Tuesday the city properly reviewed the location outside The Plaza hotel in Manhattan near Central Park. Judges upheld a lower court’s ruling dismissing The Plaza’s lawsuit.
The city Law Department says it’s pleased with the decision.
Plaza representatives haven’t responded to a request for comment. Plaza lawyer Steven Sladkus says he can’t comment on the hotel’s behalf.
The hotel and condominium wants the bright blue Citi Bike rack removed from Grand Army Plaza, a landmark itself. It says the 147-foot-long bike station is an advertising-laden, traffic-clogging eyesore.
The city says the spot is ideal.
The litter on the sidewalks in Boro Park (and most of Brooklyn) is what’s really an eyesore. It should be replaced with bike racks to give it somewhat of a classy look.
Sorry, I actually dislike the way bikes are driven and lots more in NYC.
Having stated the above, I must say the Plaza has a bit of chutzpa asking for a bike rack that is on NYC property and across a street to be moved.
