WSJ.com (http://on.wsj.com/1JrQOZu) reports that car-sharing upstart, which launched in Brooklyn in October of 2014, and more recently in Queens, has amassed 4,474 parking tickets so far in 2015 on its 550 Smart car-fleet operating in NYC, totaling $262,810.
As a policy, Car2Go users are educated on not leaving the one-way vehicles in traditionally high-risk parking ticket situations—such as metered spaces, but other restrictions unique to New York City—like alternate side street sweeping schedules—are making it difficult for Car2Go crews to keep ahead of city ticket writers and reps say each unit in the fleet is averaging more than a ticket per month.
Tom McNeil, general manager for the New York operation, said, “Nobody has the restrictions we have for on-street parking. It’s not even close.”
Well, they have a business here, they will have to deal with the consequences, just like everyone else,
the “chareidi man” passing seems to imply a connection between the two. that does not seem to be the case in this story.
and if they can’t they will leave the city with the jobs they create with it( not to mention the tax revenue they generate and benefits for the average new Yorker.
alt side is legal extortion
NYC is not the only city with similar parking restrictions. Where I live we have alternate side of the street parking and we don’t complain nearly as much as NYers!!!
They should hire a lawyer full time to fight the tickets in bulk it’ll work out cheeper
