Australia – On Monday, yarmulke-wearing 44 year-old Josh Frydenberg was sworn in as Minister for Resources, Energy and Northern Australia while using a Hebrew Bible in part of a government shake up that resulted from last week’s election which saw the Liberal Party’s Malcolm Turnbull oust former Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

Frydenberg proudly held his Chumash—given to him by his mentor, the late Sir Zelman Cowen, the nation’s second Jewish Governor-General—while being sworn in for the first time to the Federal Cabinet.
Frydenberg previously served as Parliamentary Secretary to Tony Abbott and as Australia’s assistant treasurer.
JTA.org (http://bit.ly/1V5BWWe) reports that in honor of the event, the Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ) released a statement of appreciation for Frydenberg, saying, “Both personally and on behalf of the Australian Jewish community, we wish to convey our heartiest Mazal Tov on your promotion to the Cabinet as Minister for Resources, Energy and Northern Australia. The entire Jewish community takes immense pride in your achievement.”
Mazel Tov!
And now let’s have the presumptuous comments begin!
Mazel Tov!
Mazel tov!
Mazel tov! A real kiddush HaShem!
