Comey, who testified before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs along with Nick Rasmussen, director of the National Counterterrorism Center, said U.S. investigators are aware of dozens of U.S.-based Islamic militant suspects who now are using encrypted communications.

Comey said investigators had followed “dozens and dozens of people around the United States 24/7” during the summer and had “disrupted” them.

Comey told the committee that Islamic State recruits from the United States are incrementally younger with more “girls –women under 18” – seeking to join the militant group.

Rasmussen testified that Islamic State has overtaken al Qaeda as leader of the global violent extremist movement and has access to a large pool of potential recruits in Western countries.

He said counterterrorism experts still regard al Qaeda’s Yemen-based affiliate AQAP as big threat due to its interest in attacking the United States and airplanes.

no doubt obama has forbade them using the term “terrorists,” hence the more pc “militants.” Nauseating, this incompetent, terror appeasing president is.

Commenters #1 and #2 : The FBI fooled you both,. What matters isn’t either the word “militant” or “terrorist”. What matters is the word “potential”. A “potential” militant / terrorist means you, #1 and #2 , and me, and everyone reading this. The word that matters most, though, is “disrupt”. The FBI says it is going around “disrupt”ing “potential”s. In English, that means the FBI claims it never has to prove anything to anyone when it disrupts people’s lives; they can just say that they “disrupt”ed the “potential” threat before it became something provable in a court of law, or before an oversight body. Moreover, since there is no crime, just a claim of a potential one, there’s no way for this “disruption” punishment to fit the crime. Worst, the “potential” may never know that the FBI “disrupted” his life – she will just have to cope with unexplained personal crises (eg. loss of job, property, health).

Just in order to remind VIN readers the type of people we are dealing with here. Do you remember the recent Manhattan road rage incident that turned out to have been perpetrated by a member of the Joint Terrorism Task Force? Do you remember the details? That’s who we’re dealing with.
