FBI agents met the plane at the gate late Sunday and one person was removed from the Boeing 737, Southwest spokeswoman Melissa Ford told The Associated Press.
The pilot of Flight 2010 decided to return to LAX because of a “rapidly escalating” situation that culminated in a “physical altercation by one person against another,” Ford said Monday. She did not elaborate but said the two passengers involved were not traveling together.
The Los Angeles Times and other media reports cited witnesses on board as saying a man and woman got into a fight after the woman reclined her seat. The man was reportedly sitting behind her.
The passenger who was removed from the flight was detained for questioning. No arrest was immediately made but the investigation was still underway, FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said.
“The allegations involved the reported assault of a fellow passenger,” she said.
The flight left LAX around 9:50 p.m. and returned to the airport about an hour later, Ford said. The captain declared an emergency to receive priority for landing, she said.
The remaining 136 passengers switched planes and departed again for San Francisco International Airport around 12:20 a.m. Monday, Ford said.
Come fly the friendly skies !
just like one person here was able to inconvenience a whole plane
so too can one person affect the world in a positive way
Now is the time to encourage only positive for the sake of our brethren in the Holy Land .. each of us must do something positive .. help your neighbor, invite a shabbos guest, extra thillim, extra tzedaka, call your mother – your sister – your brother. Forgive someone you have held a grudge against…each one of these acts lights up the world and encourages the next person to do the same ……….on and on the goodness can flow………
Let us each do our part.
If you don’t want the guy in front of you leaning into you, fly buessness or first otherwise expect to sit like a sardeen
This will happen more and more as airlines literally squeeze passengers for another few dollars
Ask yourself how many fewer rows would result in a decent flight?
I flew domestically in coach last week and there was enough room fore everybody. Do research which airlines are doig this
