Yakov Litzman told a cardiologists’ conference that McDonald’s is “out.”

He says: “There is no need to eat junk food. Not in our country.”

Litzman urged educating children not to eat junk food and sweets and stressed that the health ministry will focus on “prevention” medicine this year to curb disease.

Israeli cuisine is generally healthy with its traditional ingredients similar to the Mediterranean diet but junk food is also popular.

Litzman’s comments, broadcast Tuesday evening on channel 10 TV, were unusual because he specifically named the burger chain.

Channel 10 says McDonald’s has made healthy changes to its menu in Israel and relayed a statement from the chain condemning Litzman’s remarks.

An atheist Cardiologist from Jerusalem once said: “I don’t really believe in anything spiritual besides in resurrection – when I see a gerrer chossid on shabbes morning stuffing himself with ‘tshulent’, ‘galerette’ and ‘herring’ goes to sleep and actually wakes up – that is literally תחיית המתים. Litzman, why don’t you first focus on the eating habits of your wonderfull constituents!

There are many kosher (Rabbanut hechsher) McDonalds in Israel. As Health Minister, what bothers him based on his religious beliefs is not what he has the power in his capacity to change. He is focusing on Vinishmatem Meod Linafshoiseichem, while Fallsburger fresses cholent with Satmarer hechsher, ignoring health considerations.

He refers to McDonald’s in general. What interests him and his cronies is securing their seats. Nothing else. Whoever voted for him or any of the other Chillul Hashem-niks is a partner in their shenanigans and crimes. And he and his cronies have shared responsibility in the treife meat scandals, chillul Shabbos, Chometz b’Pesach, missionary work, avoda zora, terror, and anything else that goes against Shleimus HaTorah, Shleimus Am Yisroel (fake conversions, assimilation) and Shleimus Eretz Yisroel.

McDonald’s would not pay him enough so he black mailed them.

Did anyone notice the can of Coke in front of him, full of sugar with no nutritional value. I think a big problem in Israel is all of the soda, sugary foods, and unhealthy processed snacks, i.e bissili, bamba etc..

Most of the commentators here should rather be careful of what comes OUT of their mouths (or keyboards) than in…..

Eating healthy is a great idea. We could take a lesson when we make a kiddush in shul. In the old days, they served sponge cake, herring, and kichel for kiddush. And of course wine. We didn’t have so many overweight people at that time. We should really not serve heart attack food. Really.
