U.S. President Barack Obama (R) offers a tissue to Chemi Peres (C), son of former Israeli President Shimon Peres, during the funeral ceremony at Mount Herzl Cemetery in Jerusalem September 30, 2016. Kobi Gideon/Government Press Office (GPO)/Handout via REUTERS Jerusalem – Under a white canopy on a forested hillside in the late summer sunshine, old friends and several adversaries brushed shoulders with one another on Friday as they mourned the death of Israeli statesman and Nobel laureate Shimon Peres.

Dozens of world leaders and hundreds of dignitaries gathered at Jerusalem’s Mount Herzl cemetery, some hugging each other warmly, others greeting each other more cautiously, one or two briefly seeking to bridge the stark differences that divide them.

Former president Shimon Peres’s family issued a statement in which it “extends their gratitude to all of the mourners – in Israel and abroad.”

“We deeply appreciate the support from all of those who came to the Knesset to pay their last respects at the Ninth President’s coffin, and all those who joined us in mourning at the funeral ceremony,” the family says through Peres’s office.

In the picture of the British Prime Minister, to his right (photo left) is Rabbi Efrayim Mirvis, Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth, a great talmid chacham and a real mensch.

Lol. Check out obama and Clinton with kippas!

Its hysterical to c all these politicians w the kippas but its minimal respect. But the irony of it is they theyre not jewish and respecting a (somewhat w all these mixed genders) jewish funeral. But a head of a jewish state to be kipahLESS at all times is a sad reminder of the state of of the “jewish state”. Just an observations of the irony of it all.

Isnt it a disgrace of kovod hameis and against halacha to wait 2 days to bury a jewish person? (Not that it would matter to most of them)

While everybody was wearing kippa’s to show respect, Peres’s daughter-in-laws had to come with short sleeves .

Don’t be silly–Bibi and Rivlin both wearing kippot at most times during ceremony–just hard to see way back on Bibi’s head–Shabbat shalom and Shanah tovah from דמד

If the FULL time learning yeshiva boys can take off time from learning – to watch the ceremony from roof tops… why don’t they go and pay the last proper respects and give Shimon the honor he deserves.
I disagreed on some things he said and did, but was a true “son of Israel”. He lived his life for our people and our land. May he be remembered for all the good the did.

Look how many pictures include members of the IDF Rabbanut.
Not one mention of them in the picture descriptions.
Would acknowledging their presence and hard work challenge the liberal media bias that “charedim don’t work”. Well these bearded religious Jews are working. They do a job that other people don’t want to do. In the cemeteries and on the battle field these unsung heroes deserve done credit for bringing Jews to a proper Jewish burial. Kol haKavod Rabonim of the IDF.
