Washington – Israel should support U.S. President Barack Obama’s efforts to engage Israel’s arch-foe Iran diplomatically, Israeli President Shimon Peres said on Tuesday after meeting Obama at the White House for talks.

Peres, whose position is largely ceremonial, told reporters after the meeting that if Obama wanted to engage Iran, “we should be loyal supporters.”
“If it will succeed, it can be the best thing,” he said.
