The capital’s haredi community protested the City’s decision to keep parking lots open on Shabbat.
Police forces arrested 57 rioters during the demonstration. The 11 indicted are charged with disorderly conduct, illegal gathering, disturbing public peace and aggravated assault of a police officer.

The police told the court that the riot was “dangerous and violent,” adding that the protestors hurled bottles and stones at police forces, “With the intent of inflicting bodily harm.”

The defendants, added the indictment, “Attempted to obstruct the police… They took part in an illegal gathering with the intent of disturbing the peace and intimidating the public.”

The police also asked the court to remand some of the defendants to custody pending the completion of the legal proceedings.

Attorney David Halevy, representing two of the accused, said that his clients “deny all of the allegations against them.”

Sources in the Jerusalem Police said more indictments are expected to follow.

If they think this will stop d protests, they’re big time mistaking, it will only rise the tentions and intensify d situation.
They should try to settle it with d rabbonim on a diplomatic manner.

The main problem is, many innocent bystanders were also arrested, and it’s a pity on them they have to hire lawyers now to defend them.

Look, we live in a country who support is; the only one who give us safe haven when every country close their doors at the Jews. So at least let not destroy the country! They are ready to send their kids in the military – wile we can sit and study, we don’t have to work, they provide us with social service botuach-leimy, so let appreciate them.

I love when people comment how the Orthodox in Israel do not serve in the Army, contribute nothing etc… I wonder how many of those commenters would be serving in the Army if they lived in Israel, or would they chicken out? Unless you served in the Army you are NOT able to work in the state of Israel until you are well into your 30’s!!!!
many young bochurim are forced to sit and learn when they would love to work! If they go into the Army, even the Nachal Chareid divisions, they are stigmatized and ruin their shidduch etc….Americans tend to think that every culture is like theirs and think that all experiences mirror theirs, when its the furthest thing from the truth!
The reason why many Americans dont make Aliyah is due to the Army and Job oppurtunities which are very limited and hard to come by for non-sabras,once again a very different society than the US.All this is first hand from someone who lived there for 7 years…..

i know of 1 kid who all witnesses say did nothing except for being a bystander and he was arrested together with 50 other guys . They let most of the stonethrowers out and this kid is being held for 2 weeks without bail or charges just because the cop who arrested him is a major rosho . So much for justice in the medina .

Why should these 11 guys not sit in prison? If they broke the law why should they not?! The gedoilim never said we should burn dumpsters and throw rocks at soldiers and police. These soldiers are the same ones that go to war for us and protect us and now we throw rocks at them. Besides the point of breaking the law and the aspect of sinas chinam (do these law enforcers really want to hurt someone else they just doing their job!) What about hakoras hatov,- they risk theire life so that what? So that we can go and throw rocks at them?
And if you really doing it all for shabbes why dont you go and learn the halloches of shabbes to make sure you dont make a chilul shabbes!

    >If they go into the Army, even the Nachal Chareid divisions, they are stigmatized and ruin their shidduch etc< Ever hear of having the courage of your convictions and depending on Siyata D’Shmaya to guide you in doing the right thing? Many of us have to do that each and every day as we work and live amongst goyim (and others). Give it a try one day!

Let them do some jail time. Show the community that this type of behaviour is not acceptable.

We could all learn from the great Amora Shmuel who had good relations with King Shapura of Bavel, and proclaimed “dina demalchusa dina.”
