Police were on the scene and no traffic disturbances were reported.

More protests were planned for this upcoming Saturday in anticipation that Jerusalem Major Nir Barkat would not change his mind regarding the opening of the parking lot on the Sabbath.

Next week, the haredi community are planing to hold a march consisting of 5,000 children from Kikar Safra to the parking lot.

To VIN don’t report this as haredi setting trash’s on fire
Report as eida hachreidis who are a different religion
In the torah we don’t find something like this this is not coming from the Jewish religion
Thanks

they must find another way to protest. burning toxic plastics at the expense of others’ health, and the other materials, is irresponsible, and detracts from Shabbos – the ‘supposed’ cause of this in the first place. get real yidden. if you have a point, then express it responsibly, with ehrlichkeit and sechel.

Not one person started keeping Shabbos because of these demonstrations.

You want people to keep Shabbos? Invite someone to appreciate to join you for Shabbos. If you are not able to do so, give a donation to one of the countless organizations that are doing this work. In due time, more and more people will be keeping Shabbos.

The Eida and those who support them are not interested in promoting Shabbos. Because they know real well that at the end of the day they will not cause less chillul shabbos but more.

This is a power play to win the hearts and minds of the average Chareidi of their extremist Shitah relating to the Medina in general. They are lucky that Yerushalayim has a novice for a mayor. If they had someone like Gulianni or Bloomberg, every store that carries Badaz would be getting violations for not disposing their garbage correctly and or recylining, and/or not cleaning the curb, etc, etc, After about a week of this, the Eida would see where the money is at and announce to the world that they have succeeded. Then they can go to Williamsburg and collect money from their patrons.

Shelmiel:
Are they burning their own trash cans? or some else’s?
Do they have permission?
-> Perhaps not since “Police were on the scene”.
Do we have any record of any other great chachomim ever behaving in such a manner? any mesorah indicating such behavior?
-> no
Are the current Gedolim or any other respectable Rebbeim participating in “trash can burning”, disregard of public property, or bringing disgrace to world wide Jewry and creating an enormous chillul Hashem?
-> no

A better question: Who will stand of for the true Torah values, true Torah leadership, and perhaps acknowledge that Hashem is running the show, …. and seek methods in which He wishes us to deal with this issue (which from our Holy Seforim, obviously do not include burning other’s peroperty, or disrespecting the core values of the host Secular Israel Government { that include not setting fires in the middle of the street} unless our lives are in danger, which theirs {the alleged Chassidim} certainly are not)

Please someone explain this to me. If Eida does not support burning trash cans but they know that protesters will do it anyway, then why do they support these protests? Are they saying that the gain from the protests is greater than the damage (not financial) caused by the violence?

Looks to me like they are more into bitul zman than doing something holy for Shabbat.

We have to protes Chilul Shabos because the Tora sasy ושמרו בנ”י את השבת right? Likewise we must do the protest על דרך התורה and not על דרך MUJHADIN!
