The Internal Revenue Service wants to force UBS to disclose the identity of an estimated 52,000 US holders of secret Swiss accounts suspected of dodging taxes, even though this breaches Swiss bank secrecy laws.

A possible compromise involving the names of account-holders visited by Swiss bankers would identify about 10,000 people.

A UBS spokesman declined to comment, noting the negotiations were a matter for the two governments. A Swiss Justice Department spokesman said the two sides had agreed not to comment while negotiations continued.

A trial against UBS had been scheduled to start in Miami on July 13, but presiding judge Alan Gold agreed to delay it until August 3 to allow time for a settlement.

On Friday a source familiar with the situation said talks between Switzerland and the United States to end the tax row could stretch beyond the August 3 deadline.

I think that UBS should say Bye Bye to the US and stand by their policy of annonymous bank accounts, they should not give in to the pressure of the USA, this will only enforce their privacy policy, show the world that you stand firm in the face of pressure. They should pull out all their assets from the US. IM sure that would mean a big loss for them in the short term but in the long term it will pay off, as people will see that they are a bank with principles.

Anti-Semitism was behind the highly publicized arrests last week of rabbis, including three from the Aleppo-Syrian Jewish community in New York and New Jersey, according to Yitzhak Kakun, editor-in-chief of the Shas weekly Yom Le’Yom.

“There is a feeling here that the FBI purposely attempted to arrest as many rabbis as possible at once in an attempt to humiliate them,” Kakun said in a telephone interview Sunday.

WHO KNOWS IF THEY ARE NOT FINISHED WITH LAST WEEKS ENTRAPMENT RING , PERHAPS THEY ARE HERE TRYING TO BUILD UP WITH THEIR NEXT UBS INVESTIGATION A HUGE WORLD PUBLIC OPINION THAT THE JEWS ARE THE PROBLEM FOR THE RECESSION ETC. ??

There are probably thousands of yiddin who have hidden bank accounts with UBS and the other Swiss banks. The IRS should track them down and make them pay their taxes (with big penalties). Why should rich yidden who can afford overseas accounts be able to evade taxes while the rest of us poor schleps who have their taxes taken out each week through withholding from their paychecks have to pay. Kol Hakovod to the IRS agents who identify and prosecute these cheaters.

The wealthy pay more sales taxes than the poor, higher interest rates on mortgages, higher property taxes, higher “death” taxes, and get double and triple taxed on business income. The wealthy also sign your paycheck and finance your company. Why would anyone want to take away their ability to generate more money or to keep what they earned? Who benefits from this?
