    175

Deal, NJ – Rabbi Issac Dwek, the spiritual leader of the Sephardic Jewish community in the wealthy Monmouth County suburb of Deal, took to his pulpit on Saturday to cite the Talmudic Law of Moser that prohibits a Jew from informing on another Jew to a non-Jew.

Rabbi Dwek then renounced his son, Solomon Dwek, the failed real estate developer whose 2006 indictment on bank fraud charges motivated him to cooperate with federal prosecutors in a sting operation that led to the arrests of 44 individuals on Thursday. The group included three mayors, two state legislators, a multitude of local officials, and several Rabbis.

As explained to PolitickerNJ.com, Rabbi Dwek will sit Shiva for Solomon Dwek, observing the Jewish custom of mourning for an immediate family member who has died.

Rabbi Dwek is a great man, and the Aibeshter should bless him with the continued strength to deal with this and any other problems that might arise. He single handedly, with the help of Hashem, built the city of Deal into a huge makom torah. Say what you want about the situation at large, but try not to talk about the Rav, he is truly a greatman, and I have heard many stories about his great deeds, and have witnessed some of them first hand! Shetizku leer’os binyon beis hamikdash eem mashiach tzidkeinu, BIMHEIRA biyameinu…AMEN!

Kol HaKavod! At the end of the day, we have to be reminded that our Mesorah tells us that there is rignt and wrong, good and evil, and this Rasha’s father is standing up for what’s right. We can only imagine how heart-wrenching this must be for a father to do. But at the same time, he is honoring Hakodush Boruch Hu and all of us by fulfilling his communal obligation.

I wonder, if the rabbinin are convicted or others who have been convicted of serious crime did their parents sit shiva for them. did any of the parents of the serial child molesters sit shiva for their children and disown them, I do not think so

Poor Rabbi, he is to be admired for doing the right thing, denouncing the low life career criminal that went around to prey on pious good hearted people to entrap them, despite for him being the rabbi’s son.

This makes us sound like gangsters. Better to denounce him for entrapping people, and playing on their pity. But to say it is against our religion to inform on a Jew who commits a crime to a non Jewish government, will only bring more antisemitism.

That’s it? The Rav renounces his son? He says nothing about what a chillul hashem the people who were arrested have caused? Moser is the only Avayrah that was committed in the episode? Nothing else to renounce or denounce?

sitting shiva is just as “medieval” and “barbaric” as wearing tefillin and as keeping shabbos. And I am confident that Rabbi Dweck knows a little more than some anonymous poster on voizneias.

Rabbi Dwek follows in the footsteps of Adam, Noach, Abraham, Isaac, Moshe, Dovid HaMelech and Shlomo HaMelech. All had sons who have gone off the derech.. Our religion believes in bechira – free choice and some times children will make wrong, incorrect decisions.. Some of us have it too, with children who have been mechalel shabbos, do pot, drink and smoke..

Rabbi Dwek, we all feel for you and your pain..

Rabbi Avigdor Miller zal said in his seforim that the cemetaries are full of children who died because of their parents’ indulgences. If Rabbi Dweck had been a better father and patched him as a child the first time he lied or cheated or stole, perhaps Solomon would have turned into a more admirable person. But Rabbi Dweck coddled and spoiled the child until he grew up and became a monster and deposited a fraudulent check for $25million, which Uncle Sam then utilized like Mr. Clean to clean up the dirty State of New Jersey. There is no excuse for shul rabbis and yeshiva rabbis to accepted dirty money! Solomon Dweck is not the “cause” of the community’s problem, he is the “exposer” of the problems. Sitting shiva for Solomon will not make the dirt go away; taking responsibility is the first step in changing everyone’s behavior.

Please remember that it’s an hallacha to sit shiva if your son is a musser. No such Halacha for chile molesters and other crimes. The rabbi is simply following the Torah by sitting shiva.

Imagine if the media takes notice that Rabbi Dwek sat shiva for his son the cooperating witness, but not for his son the scam artist. It’ll be almost as big a Chillul Hashem as the original scandal in the first place.

My rav gave a speech this week and this is what he said : Raboisa there is a big confusion in our community regarding ” Pidyon Shvuom” What we are hearing recently with achinu bais yisroel being arrested is really ” Pidyon Ganovim” Pidyon shevuom was always known as a situation where a jew was kidnapped by goim for his sin of being a jew for the Ransom. thats what the gemora and shilchun orich translates as being “pidyon shevuom” A person who commits a crime is not pidyon shuvuom .if you want to help him ,thats fine but dont call it pidyon shvuom call it “PIDYON GANOVIM”

This Dreck made a REAL DRECK . The chofets chaim once told crying relatives of a ganov that was harshly sentenced . He said rachmonis on a ganov that was sentenced is abit to late,Crying should have been done that the ganiva should not happen. We should cry that we should not have ganovim. I feel for Rabbi Dweck but when he stole $300 million from his own syrian people i didnt hear such cries.
