Tel Aviv – Top Cop: Gay Center Shooting May Not Have Been Hate Crime

    33

Israeli police officers and rescue work in a site of a shooting attack in Tel Aviv, Israel, Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009Tel Aviv – Police Commissioner David Cohen called on the public not to blame specific sectors of the community for the attack Saturday night on a gay community center. Two people were killed in the armed assault – Nir Katz, 26, of Givatayim and Liz Trobishi, 16, of Holon – and fifteen others were injured.

Cohen hinted that the attack may not have been a hate crime against gays. At a meeting today assessing the status of the case, he cautioned against implicating segments of the society “regarding suspicions and possible directions [of the investigation].”

The police presence in the area around the Tel Aviv community center has remained heavy since the attack, as detectives look for evidence which the assailant may have left behind and question potential eyewitnesses in the area.

Among the angles the police are exploring is the possibility that the attack was prompted by a personal dispute. A source involved in the investigation noted that “there is no clear evidence at this stage indicating that this was a hate crime.”
Other sources said the investigation was expected to be lengthy.

Four victims of the attack still remain in Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv. One of the four is listed in serious condition, two in moderate condition, and one is suffering light injuries.

why would anyone assume that it was a hate crime? if a black person is shot is there any reason to assume it was racist? if a jew is does it mean it was antisemetic?

Where is the apologies from the Menuval “Gay-Rabbi” where he insinuated a Lie, just to bolster and gain sympathy for his own personal filthy disgusting lifestyle?

What this Low Life Rabbi has done in effect is to EXPLOIT a tragedy to bolster his filthy disgusting lifestyle and agenda.

Where is the apology form all frum-bashes, who tried to insinuate a LIE that the frum were to blame for it?

No, but if it’s in a black cultural center, there is a big chance it’s racist. If it’s CH”V in a Shul, odds are it’s anti-semitic.

“Why would anyone assume that it was a hate crime?”

Oh I don’t know, let’s see….hmmmm….wait…..it’s coming…oh right! Someone went into a GAY CLUB and shot GAY PEOPLE. Is it possible that this was not the reason for the shooting and there were some personal motivations? Sure. But if you can’t see why someone would assume that this was a hate crime you are a little slow. This was not a random shooting of a Jew or a Gay or a Black Person.

    As to #1 :
“Where is the apologies from the Menuval “Gay-Rabbi” where he insinuated a Lie, just to bolster and gain sympathy for his own personal filthy disgusting lifestyle?”

YOU are a disgusting filthy person. There is no concrete evidence either way so you don’t know what the truth is. But you like to sit there and call someone a filthy disgusting person because they happen to be gay. You have sinaas chinam, baseless hatred for another Jew, and mention his “disgusting lifestyle” several times. If you are talking about HOD, in fact, he should be admired for helping other yidden who are going through tough circumstances you would not imagine, and still remaining frum despite the hatred he receives from people like you (and death threats). It sounds to me like YOU are exploiting a tragedy to bolster your own sickening views. Just leave. People like you make me feel sick. You are judgemental, a hypocrite, and a shame to the frum community.

Why do people think the Yetzer haRah for stealing is more “heilig” then the Yetzer haRah for homosexuality? On all the posts about Dwek and Assoc. I heard ahh it’s going to tzedakah, yada yada yada. But here, in this fatal tradgedy of two Jews, you call them filthy and disgusting? You don’t know what they were doing. Last I heard, Toaivah also applied to: not keeping Shabbat, eating non-kosher animals and remarrying your exwife after she’d been married to someone after the divorce. Toaivah doesn’t mean disgusting, it means God said “NO!” If this turns out to be a terrorist act, then they died Al Kiddush Hashem. If it was a dispute, then I believe Don’t Kill hangs out somewhere near Don’t Steal. I don’t remeber learning clauses to the effect that stealing is OK if it goes to tzedakah or that killing is OK if they’re gay….

#3 it doesnt seem to bother you in no shape or form those who are desecrating a toaivah, issur misa.when one points out a desecration of the torah its not hate .this ‘rabbi’is worse because he is a choteh umachteh. and if you dont agree then your a mumar ledovor achod which is mumur lechol hatorah. remember this is not a centrist, reform etc site

The point is not how and if it is disgusting what this group is doing. The question is why did the Israel newspapers blame the frum yidden without any proof. After they find out that it was one of their own because his boyfriend went with another guy, it will not make headlines. It is much harder to undo your wrong assumptions that has been printed out already.

The big difference is that you do not find some who proudly defines himself as a ganev rabbi and proud to be a ganev anwe should promote genaivah. The “rabbi” in the story proclaims himself to be a gay rabbi and that is an attempt to ligitmize the act. To that we must say feh. At least as much as someone who would proudly proclaim he is a pro-theft rabbi and that is his platform. The Torah proclaims the act as toeivah, an abomination and yet he proudly wears this as a sign of pride. Nebach.

It always seemed unlikely to me that this was a Charedi doing G-d’s work. No eidim, no hasroh, no Beis Din. If someone felt it necessary to carry out “Meis Youmus”, why not start by killing all the Mechallelei Shabbos?

I heard it from R’ avigdor Miller zt”l,someone asked a question (as was accustomed at the end of the thur. Nite shiur)”what’s worse a mechalel shabbos or a homosexual? Cause they have equal punishments? So he answered, definately a homo, cause he’s doing something wrong & abnormal against the creator of the world,as upposed to a mechalel shabbos which is doing a normal act I.e. Cooking etc.,its just that the torah says:SHABBOS its asur.So clearly there’s a HUGE diff. Between thieves etc. & people commiting disgusting acts against hashem.

There were gays in the world trade center. There were blacks in the world trade center. There were Jews in the world trade center. How come we didn’t say that was a hate crime? How come we knew immediately exactly who did it?
