New York – Independent BlackBerry customers across North and South America have been without email since 3:15 a.m., Research in Motion spokesperson Marisa Conway confirmed this morning to the Star.

“Some BlackBerry customers may be currently experiencing delays receiving email. Our technical teams are working to resolve this issue for those impacted. Phone services, browsing and PIN-to-PIN messaging are not impacted. We apologize for any inconvenience,” Conway said in an email from New York.
Research in Motion Inc., which makes the handheld devices, is the source of the problem, a candian Rogers spokesperson Odette Coleman told the Star. “We are pressuring RIM to solve ASAP.”
The problem affects “subscribers of the Americas. Multiple wireless carriers in the Americas are affected,” Coleman said.

Now, if only Blackberry service would be down for about a month, I can actually go take a vacation. Hallevay that it stays down for a month. It would really be a nays chanuka.
I was wondering. Everybody was davening so good today and not having the blackberry in front of the sidur.
OK so I am in the process of looking into “upgrading” my phone from my old Palm 750 (AT&T) to another PDA. When these outages happen are they for phone service too or just email / text messages??? Any recommendations for other phones which are not Blueberries?

For all people that have blackberry’s be happy that you have jobs & you actually have emails which unfortunately didn’t work till now, & fortunately do work now, think of all the people that nebach don’t have jobs & are seriously in need of one because they cannot put bread on the table..

Just spoke to them, as of now they are still experiencing major issues, but emails will not be lost, atleast so they so!
It’s great to have some freedom from the blackberry, as Yankel Miller says that in a few years someone will come with an invention to get us some freedom and reduce the costs of cell phones and on every corner they will put a phone so you always have accsess and it will only cost a quarter to call.it’s not funny it’s sad that we are enslaved to these phones.
