Borough Park, NY – A Brooklyn rabbi took a fierce beating from teenage punks after demanding they scram from a yeshiva schoolyard where they were bullying students.

Several students at the Cheder School in Borough Park told their teacher, Rabbi Mayer Gross, at around 3 p.m. Wednesday that two teens in the school-owned yard playing handball were refusing to let them use the playground, cops said.

“Many times, strangers come in to use the park, so we put up a sign that no one should come — private property,” said an official at the privately run religious academy, who would not give his name.

“Any time someone comes to play, we say over the [loudspeaker], please leave. These two guys wouldn’t leave. That’s when Rabbi Gross came. They still wouldn’t leave, so he took out his camera phone to take their picture. That’s when they got angry.”

Police said that one of the teens, 16-year-old Justin Rodriguez, of Bensonhurst, shoved Gross.

The other teen, 17-year-old Shreaf Taha, who lives near the school, picked up a bag containing a teddy bear and water gun and whipped it at Gross, striking him on the head and leaving him with a cut, cops said.

“They cut him on his face. His forehead was bleeding,” said Avrohom Mitnick, a 10th-grader at the school.

But Rodriguez and Taha — neither of whom has a criminal record — said that they were just killing time before Rodriguez had to go to work and that they were the ones who took a beating.

“They said something over the loudspeaker but it was unclear,” Rodriguez said. “Next thing I know, the rabbi charged at me. He kicked at me from behind.”

Members of a volunteer patrol then joined in, the teens said.

“They were hitting us full force,” Rodriguez said, pointing to bruises on his torso, following his arraignment on assault charges yesterday. Taha had welts on his back and neck.

    Both were released without bail.

Gross, 36, refused medical attention and declined to comment.

Students said people from the neighborhood often use the school’s yard, even though it was on private property.

If the two “bullies” are covered in bruises and welts, they were CLEARLY assaulted. If Gross was assaulted, why not get examined?? Very misleading.

Well this happened at my sons yeshiva, what we need to face is that crime is going up fast thefts car thefts etc. We need to do something about it, as with all economic downturns crime rises. The problem we have is that’s cops don’t care and try to sweep all this under the rug. We need to speak out! We need better protection!

The boys stated that the neighborhood kids play there often. Why is this playground not gated and alarmed? It would seem to me that there is a bigger issue here about protecting school property.

The security and safety procedures in the school are clearly severly lacking and highly deficient. In this age of terrorism pedophilia, there is no excuse for this malfeasence and disregard for the safety of the children. This school and others like it(and you know who you are) had better clean up their acts before something really serious happens. May I remind everyone of the two incidents in China over the last two days. In one incident and apprently deranged man stabbed 30 kids and a teacher. In another incident a deranged man set himself on fire while holding two children in a school. Be afraid, Be very afraid. We do not have a right to rely on Nissim if we are negligent.

the problem is that the administration were told a long time ago that there are tugs playing in there yard every night and on the week ends they were asked to make a high fence, they just looked at you & turned a deaf ear and closed there eyes and denied that that ever happens. they are just “ARROGANT”

I do not doubt that these teenagers tress-passed and were cussing and rude, but I also don’t doubt that the situation was escalated and turned into a violent confrontation by the rabbi who probably called his shomrim mob and had one thing on his mind, to beat these kids so they learn their lesson.

I know how Chassidim in Boro Park lie about these type of incidents. I’ve witnessed 3 different episodes where goyish people were beaten by MOBS of shomrim and hatzalah guys. Shomrim guys are the biggest cowards on the planet. I lost all respect for how they conduct themselves when I saw them in action. When police arrive it’s 40 “WITNESSES” colluding in yiddish to give the same story against a teenager, a Polish guy or that Mexican. Even when someone is doing something wrong, it does not give you the right to beat them and then cover up and change the story with the police. If you have the right to beat people, you would not lie to police. 66 pct cops know about this all, but they have no power to do anything about it.

Too bad I wasn’t there…I would have left the boys telling their stories to the police through a computerized voice box.

The Cheder has been warned a number of times by the neighbors to put a fence around the yard. At night and over shabbos, bands of goyim hang out, play ball, smoke pot , do drugs and have skateboarding contests till all hours of the night. The neighbors have tried to reason with the hanhala but they know whats best. Of course none of them live there and don’t care what happens when they aren’t around. Too bad the rebbe had to get beat up but maybe Mayer G will wake up. but I doubt it.

this could easily be solved if the cheder had a taller gate
