Kiev, Ukraine – Authorities over the weekend found the body of a 25-year-old Jewish man was reported missing. The Chabad student was murdered two weeks ago in the Ukraine, and his body was cut into ten pieces.

Police were reportedly investigating whether the murder was an act of anti-Semitism.
The victim, Aryeh Leib Misinzov, was a 25-year-old student at the Lubavitcher Yeshiva in Kiev.
Aryeh-Leib’s body was found mutilated and dumped in a Kiev neighborhood late Friday night. Chabad officials identified him as the young man who has been missing since April 20, the anniversary of Adolf Hitler’s birthday.
Kiev Police believe Mizenson was kidnapped and murdered, and that his assailants mutilated his body soon after. Sources adding that he was kidnapped and held in captivity until his murder by a gang member on Hitler’s birthday.
The gang leader was reportedly undergoing questioning by Kiev police.
On Sunday, haredi news sources reported that Misinzov himself was involved in organized crime.
Local authorities have asked to delay his funeral pending further investigation, but Chabad has demanded that his body be turned over to his family for a proper Jewish burial.
According to Chabad sources, the Ukrainian chief rabbi, Rabbi Moshe Reuvein Asman, was in Israel at the time of the murder, and cut his trip short in order to arrange the release and burial of the body.
This news should have been expected . Only Lubavitch lack of knowledge is the guilty part. The Ukrainians flocked to the SS. I don’t think this is anti semitism, this bachur was a messed up bachur and probably wasn’t in yeshiva for the past few weeks. If he was in yeshiva and was missing then why didn’t we hear about a missing bachur??

I spoke to someone who led a tour of teenagers to the site of Babi-Yar, where over 33,000 Jews were murdered. Bab-Yar is located in close proximity to Kiev. In order to get to the ravine by Babi-Yar, the group had to pass through an adjacent neighborhood. I was informed that the local residents were not too friendly when they saw a Jewish group walking through the area. Attitudes towards Jews, in Ukraine have not changed in the last 65 years.

I knew this boy personally for many years. Unfortunately, he was mentally unwell and got into all sorts of suspicious dealings. As far as I know, he had not been affiliated with any Yeshivah for the past several years. Many people from all Jewish affiliations in Ukraine knew him and can testify to the fact that he was an unfortunate soul who was involved in who knows what. According to the police, he was murdered long before the twentieth of April. There is no point in reading antisemitism and antagonizing the Ukrainian government over something which is clearly not.
Let us hope that this unfortunate Jewish soul has reached its full takanah and can rest in peace.

As a lubavitcher and more importantly, a jew, I’m sickened, litterally sickened by some of the comments here. As much as I am saddened by the news of this young man being murdered, I am even more saddened by the hatred, ignorance, and stupidity being spewed by readers of this site. Aryeh Leib hyd was a sweet guy. He wasn’t any more mentally unstable than whoever this is that keeps writing that he was so. He didn’t seem to have much to do with neo Nazi mobsters but then again I haven’t seen him in a coupla years. Aryeh Leib has a place in the heart of many Jews from Israel and all over the world. He was frequently seen shnorring at all the mekomot hakdoshim in Ukraine, Poland, and more places. He himself would lead tour groups to babi yar and all holy places in the area. We love you, A.L.
