Republican Frank Padavan’s bill is in response to a Daily News story on the State Liquor Authority’s recent approval of four brands of 192-proof booze, which are 96% alcohol.
The liquor authority said it approved the products after deeming they were not “false, misleading or deceptive to consumers.”
There are no state laws on the books limiting alcohol content in booze.
Dear Frank:
This is the biggest problem in the state right now?
Some of us would like to see a budget, preferably balanced, that doesn’t rely on one-shot-deals and long-term debt.
You have bigger problems to deal with: booze isn’t even on my “10 Ten Problems with the State of New York.”
What’s his agenda? Who cares how much alcohol a beverage has? Do we not trust our citizens to decide for themselves when they had too much? What kind of nanny state are we?
fix the budget first then worry about the booze
How about banning Soda, cause its not healthy???
Get out of our life please!!!
If I’m old enough to get married, I’m old enough to decide what to drink!!!
as a conservative i am ashamed of this so called republican who thinks the nanny state needs to allow me to pick what type of booze i buy!
So where’s the limit? why is a one shot of 160 proof worse off than a couple of glasses of 100 plus..will they start monitoring the amount of conents as well? I can just see the next bill; only mini bottles..
Go Get A Life..I mean a JOB you all good-for-nothing politicians!! (yes, it all boils down to them doing nothing all day…but think what silly bill they can pass..and then rant n rave they passed a couple of bills…hmm sounds like hard work to me!!;-)
Seriously, who would even drink that stuff that we need a law against it?
What is all the fuss about? Does it matter if a consumer buys 96% alcohol, or twice as much of 48% alcohol, or 16 times as much of 6% alcohol?
i can no longer affords the single malt..ich muss koyfin the billager sachen yetz…
If he were smart, he would quietly tax higher % alcohol drinks & gain the benefit. Sadly, fuming at something doesnt make it go away.
