The Hatikvah International Academy Charter School in East Brunswick received final approval by the state Department of Education on July 6, said founder and board member Yair Nezaria.
The state ranked Hatikvah first in preparedness among the 11 charter schools receiving final approval, he added.
The school will begin the year with a full enrollment of 108 students in grades K-two, although it is still actively seeking students for a few slots. It will occupy rented space behind the Trinity Presbyterian Church on Cranbury Road.

Will they learn English?
“Will they learn English?”, asks #2 .
Of course they will. But perhaps we should ask the same question about our own, chareidi, yeshivos.
This is a tragedy in disguise. It is a tragedy that people are finding it more difficult to afford yeshivas and it is a greater tragedy that this is the future of Jewish education for these kids. The charter schools must abide by some extremely destructive laws – they are not permitted to teach any religious studies and they are not permitted to discriminate against any race. So if shwartzes or Moslems or just plain goyisha Americans looking for a good free education wish to enroll they must be accepted.
